Learning Conversations
Dear Cougar Family,
Before school started, I shared one of my goals with you:
- to cultivate a collaborative culture focused on the shared responsibility of students' academic and social/emotional learning.
When I shared this goal with you all, it made me truly nervous because revealing anything I am passionate about--even to my trusted school family--opens up a level of vulnerability that I am not comfortable with; however, I know that it is important that you all know what I am working on as an administrator. It seems unfair for me to ask you all to open yourselves up to one another and the admin team and me not do the same. I also think that it is important that our students see that we are all constantly working to improve our craft in order to better serve them.
So, in that spirit, I am sharing my other two goals for the year with you all now:
- to create opportunities for individual ownership of professional development growth for all faculty members in order to expand instructional leadership capacity
- to build relationships with stakeholders in order to become more visible as the campus principal.
If you have any suggestions as to how I can better work toward achieving these goals, please do not hesitate to provide me feedback, too. As a new campus principal, your perspective and feedback is invaluable to me. Please email me, set up a time to visit, or complete my #ObserveMe survey.
Thank you for being active participants in the learning conversations we had as a campus yesterday! I loved hearing the instructional dialogue and seeing the growth and risk-taking evidenced in your individual coaching plans. Please be sure your plan is shared with your evaluator, department chair, and cohort leader. I noticed that many of you selected the same teachers to coach you--please confirm with your coach(es) that they are willing/able to help you work toward achieving your goal(s). Also, here is yesterday's presentation if you need to refer back to it.
Thank you for modeling lifelong learning for our students.
And as always, COUGAR PRIDE!

October 19th!
We will be administering a practice EOC to our 9th graders, the PSAT to our 10th and 11th graders, as well as have some special activities for our seniors on October 19th. This is an "all hands on deck" type of day so we need you here.
Make sure you review all training materials.
When the bell schedule is finalized, we will share it. Thank you for your patience!
Cougar Pride Yearbook
Staff can buy a copy of the 2016-2017 Cougar Pride yearbook now for the lowest price of the year at www.smart-pay.com. The current price ($75) will increase to $80 on Sept. 17, and then to $85 on Oct. 15. After online sales end in the spring, we must charge the full price plus tax (around $97).
We appreciate the support of our staff and all of the positive feedback we received on last year's book. We're already hard at work on this year's book, whose theme, Vivid, incorporates both our school's 5th anniversary (roman numeral V) and the awesomely vibrant and passionate student body we're lucky to serve.
