March 1, 2023 - NEWSLETTER
Hello Centerview Families,
Whew, the 28 days of February just flew by! We were able to accomplish much as we grew through conferences and communications, I Love to Read and Black History month and flex learning days.
Now, we’ve got a lot to look forward to as begin March. We’ll be wrapping up our second trimester with students on March 9 and then spring break will begin for them on March 10. Over the next week, students will be finishing up units of learning in content areas, assessing progress and gearing up for some time away. Every day matters in learning, so it is of the utmost importance that students be here ready to go each morning prior to break!
Centerveiw staff will be working on both ends of spring break. We have an assessment, reporting and design day on March 10 and a professional learning day on March 20. Both are beneficial days in working for our students. I look forward to these days as we take our next steps!
Your kiddos might have shared with you that our playground has been an icy mess because of the weather conditions. Each day, we assess the conditions and adjust accordingly. Whether that means having indoor recess or identifying safe areas of play outdoors, we’ll adjust accordingly.
Finally, thanks to all who supported the Panther Foundation’s Week of Giving last week. This support from our community benefits all of our students and each of our Spring Lake Park Schools.
Take care,
Mike

Construction trades course receives $50k grant
The Panther Foundation has been awarded a $50,000 grant from the Installed Building Products Foundation to support the Construction Trades course at Spring Lake Park High School. Students in the course are building a house that will move into the community later this spring.
“This grant supports students in gaining real-world skills and experience building a home and exploring career paths in the trades,” says Eric Van Brocklin, pathways program lead. “The resulting product will provide quality, affordable shelter for a family in our community.”
The construction trades course is part of the high school’s Career and College Pathways programming in which students explore potential career paths as they gain real skills and experience. There are three pathways that each represent a need for future jobs and community impact — Technology, Engineering and Design; Health and Human Services; and, Business and Entrepreneurship.

Panthers for a Purpose raises $120k
The Panther Foundation’s annual Week of Giving and Panther Party raised $120,000 to support activities and programs benefiting the students of Spring Lake Park Schools.
The Week of Giving, February 18-25, was full of panther pride. There were themed spirit wear days, dine to donate opportunities in partnership with local restaurants, and a silent auction with more than 300 packages open for bidding and a Panther Party on Saturday night.
While the party may be over, the giving isn’t. Each year, the Foundation identifies a Fund-A-Dream project. This year, the focus is support for career and college readiness programming and you can still donate donating online.
