Mott News
4/26
From the Principal
Thinking about our current reality:
From all of our teachers and staff, we want to tell our Owls that we are broken-hearted about the news that we will not be returning to the nest this school year. For our fifth-graders, dual-language students, Pegasus and those being rezoned, we are especially saddened. While it is too soon to decide on dates and details, we are definitely going to plan a formal farewell event!
We are also planning a Mott Family Picnic for all Mott families whenever it is safe for everyone to attend!
Student Interaction
In light of our current reality, I have asked teachers to develop a way to structure online student interaction. This could look very different from classroom to classroom. It could be a way to share pictures, comments, etc. Please watch for information from your child's teacher. I encourage you to participate so that students can interact with their classmates, even if it is through words or pictures.
In reference to the information above, I encourage families that are on Facebook to post pictures on the Mott Elementary Facebook page in response to our daily Spirit Week themes. Staff and other families are very excited to see our students in these posts!
Student Personal Item Retrieval
Teachers will be going to the school beginning the week of May 4 to place students' personal items in bags, and organize them for parent pick-up. We will need to follow social distancing rules, so with over 1,100 students, it will take some time to cycle through all of the classrooms to gather belongings. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this process. There will be advertised times for parents to pick up personal items and drop off books or other school materials beginning the week of May 18.
Medication Pick-Up - May 6 and 7 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
This will be done through a curbside pick-up process with no contact. Once these times have passed, medications will be discarded as they are at the end of every school year per policy.

The goal of this project is to gather data on technology access, skills, and your school’s technology environment, in order to understand the connection between technology use and student achievement.
Our data collection window is set to run from now to May 27, 2020.
There is one designed for students, and one designed for parents.

Art to Remember
Hi families and friends,
Our school is participating in a creative fundraiser with Art to Remember that allows you to purchase keepsake products customized with your child’s art. There are over 50 products and many are less than $15. These make great gifts and a percentage of every purchase goes right back to our school. Click on the link below and enter the online order code shown on your child’s order form or to search for your child’s artwork. Then, have fun shopping!
Special Areas Menus
The Special Area Menus that are coming from me and the teachers are meant to be choices for your child. You do not have to complete all of them. Pick from any area as often as you would like. These are meant to be fun for your child and easy to accomplish at home. If you do not have all the supplies needed for a project, no worries! Just choose another item.
