A Cup Above
Teaching Self-Regulation by Modeling
Data Team Meeting
It was exciting to hear of the number of students who had gone up multiple levels, students who were ready to graduate, and about students who have matured greatly since the start of school. Thanks for all of your hard work and dedication to our students!

An Update on Nhut
Facebook update from Nhut's family
Many of you may or may not know, but just over a month ago we abruptly and without a second thought became full time caretakers for my handsome, less than one week old nephew (pictured below) after his mom suffered a stroke within a week of his birth and remained in ICU for over 2 weeks. This rocked the entire family's world to say the least, turning my brother, Josh and his family's world upside down! Probably the most difficult trial we have ever had to deal with, watching my brother and nephews almost lose their wife/mom, being on pins and needles with sleepless nights for several days, and family/friends filling any void needed, including taking care of his three boys ages 11, 7, and now 7 weeks. Fast forward a little over 6 weeks later... yes things have made a dramatic turn for the better (which we are beyond grateful for the amazing strides) but reality is...they have a long rigorous road ahead (probably years) with my sister in law, Nhut, needing possibly a few more surgeries which will probably take her out west, leaving huge medical expenses that will continue. There are many more life changes to come with them needing to sell their house to move closer to family for us to be more accessible to help with any needs in Nhut's recovery, along with continued help with the boys. Josh was just recently able to start back to work but not without much stress with so many decisions and appointments constantly needing to be made, along with trying to be next to his wife's side during this difficult season and be the father he needs to be for his boys. Thank you to all who have stepped up and helped by praying, sending notes and words of encouragement, meals, giving of yourselves and financially. It has been a huge blessing to have so many people want to love on our family in such a dark time... making the burden lighter! PLEASE share this post to spread Nhut's story to as many people as possible, to support a family truly in need ...and to get this precious baby connecting like he needs to with his momma, in her arms! Frontline Leave Request to Go Live Feb. 1
Everyone will begin entering your leave requests on Frontline beginning Feb. 1st. You will still need to notify me as you normally do until we have the system running smoothly. You will also continue to fill out the normal leave request hard copy through the month of February. This is to ensure everything is jiving with our payroll.
If you need help, let us know, or you can also reach out to Sarah Smith.
What's Happening in Kkids?
Below is an outline of future projects.
- In your email inbox, search for "unsubscribe" to find all of the newsletters you never bothered to unsubscribe from.
- Instead of hitting backspace multiple times to correct misspelled words, erase the whole word by pressing "Ctrl+backspace."
- Tired of getting bombarded with spam? Keep two email accounts with different passwords, so that one of these can be used exclusively for registering online accounts. This will prevent a ton of spam from hitting your inbox and your main account from being hacked. (Thanks Stacey Trimble for the hack).

Battle of the Books
Everything you need to know for this year's big battle:
- Here's the link to the parent letter in case the parents in your room have questions! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fqj16wVfKA7ld4VJZ9CXUS9A3hN2DYeXqRypLz9QXNA/edit?usp=sharing
- Students can come down to exchange B.O.B. books first thing in the morning.
- Reminder, there are exciting changes to this year's final battle! The REC committee worked to address teacher and student concerns about number of student participants and crowd control! First, each homeroom will have the winning team from the first round represented at a table on the gym floor during the final battle. We will have a separate 3rd grade and 4th grade battle to reduce the volume in the gym.
- The 7 third grade teams that advance to the final battle will also each have a staff representative added! If you would like to participate, please email Renee!
- Let the reading begin!
- UPDATE: Reminder that Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday classes will have their first battle next week. Monday and Tuesday classes will start.
Reminders
- Don't forget to schedule your Principal Read Aloud time each month.
