Note from Mr. Camp
Spring is fast approaching! I wanted to remind you that last week, PSD made the announcement that they would add two staff work days, March 12 and April 19, to help support teachers with the additional workload they have.
Spring Break will be from March 15-19, and after that we will have our BIG Werner Fun Run fundraiser. More details are below about that upcoming opportunity to support our school! You will start to see regular communications about it.
Our Yearbook Cover Contest ends this week. Please have your child bring their cover design to the main office by Thursday, March 11. PSDV students are encouraged to participate as well! Just scan your entry and send to Mr. Camp (hcamp@psdschools.org) or bring by the office by Thursday as well.
I hope you all have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Hayden

Werner Fun Run-Coming Soon!
We are excited to kick off our Werner Fun Run on Tuesday, 3/23. Our goal is to raise $20,000 for Classroom and Program Budgets for the upcoming school year, and other improvements and to strengthen our school community.
Our school has always relied on fundraising to provide exceptional opportunities to enhance student learning. And this year, we have more needs than we’ve ever had before, which means we need your support more than ever.
We completely understand if your family is not in a position to financially support the school right now. You can still be involved by simply SHARING about our fundraiser with friends and extended family online at funrun.com. Sharing IS supporting!
As you know our school is limiting visitors and non-essential staff, so all communication to students and staff during the fundraising and character development program will be delivered via video instead of in person. We will share more details about how we will do this safely, as well as how we are including our families with PSDV, in future communications.
Here is a trailer teaser of the program: Sports City Now Trailer.
Key dates to remember:
Donating Opens - 3/9 Register on FUNRUN.COM, SHARE, & GIVE!
Fundraiser Kick Off - 3/23
Event Day - 4/1
We are grateful for our Werner family! Thank you for your support this year. We all need it!

Volunteers at Werner
As you may know, PSD has decided to allow a limited number of volunteers to work at schools during the second semester. Sites can decide whether to utilize this support, and our team is excited to take advantage of this opportunity to work with you.
The district has established the following COVID-19 protocols for volunteers. These are posted on the PSD website on the Volunteers web page.
· All elementary school volunteers must wear a KN95 mask and eye protection (e.g. face shield) as part of PSD’s contact tracing strategy at the primary level. We will provide these to you on your first day at school.
· Volunteers must always wear required PPE, maximize social distancing from others and wash their hands frequently.
· Volunteer duties are designed to limit the potential for close contact (within 6 feet for 15 cumulative minutes with a COVID-19 positive individual) as much as possible. These include but aren’t limited to traffic monitoring and recess duties outside, grading, shelving library books or making copies while distanced from others (preferably alone), and more.
Please fill out this short Volunteer Interest form if you are interested in helping us. We appreciate your help!
Transportation Needs
If you qualify for transportation and need this, please email Mr. Camp (hcamp@psdschools.org) with your request.

Resources for those facing housing and food hardship
The COVID-19 pandemic has created financial hardships for many in our community, leading to housing instability and food insecurity. There are financial resources available to help families and landlords and protections in place to help people stay housed. The PSD Department of Language, Culture, & Equity has worked with community partners to put together resources to support families.
Please see the LCE Family Resources Information (English and Spanish) for information on support with housing, food, and utilities.
PSD Newsletter-GHH
One of many ways information is shared is through the Great Happens Here community newsletter, which features timely information about the latest happenings in the district. GHH is emailed to families and interested community members about every two weeks.
