Happy Arbor Day!

Your child is bringing home a redbud seedling in honor of Arbor day today! Thank you to the Arbor Day Foundation for donating these trees to our students!

Today, Mrs. Bickers came to volunteer. The children had fun making and designing a butterfly of their own. We have enjoyed learning about the life cycle of a frog and butterfly and will soon be learning about the life cycle of plant.

We were excited to see that our caterpillars have formed their chrysalis! We have moved them into an aquarium and are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our painted lady butterflies. The students did well understanding the life cycle of a butterfly and will apply what they have learned about life cycles to seeds and plants.

We had a visit from Mrs. Able, who is with the farm bureau. She came and read a story to the students and taught them how important farms are to us and what we get from them. We talked about what farm animals give us, as well as what crops are grown on a farm. We are excited to start learning about seeds and plants next week!

During math time, we are practicing grouping and counting sets of objects. The students practiced making tally groups today using popsicle sticks. They turned over a number card and then "built" the number using the sticks. They did a good job with this activity. We will continue to working on solving addition and subtraction number sentences as well as creating our own story problems.

Today we were treated to a performance of The Lion King by the drama club and chorus. They did a wonderful job! The acting, singing and costumes were amazing! The children were excited and enjoyed the show.
