6th Grade Math
This week we talked about greatest common factor (GCF) on Monday. On Tuesday we looked at equivalent fractions and converting between fractions and mixed numbers. Wednesday in the first half of the class students used the least common denominator of fractions to compare and order them from least to greatest. In the second half of class students were able to select a partner and began an assessed activity where they made a brochure on prime factorization, LCM, and GCF. The purpose of this activity was to clarify understanding of these topics and begin reviewing for a quiz. On Thursday students finished their brochures. Friday there were a variety of review activities for students to choose from in class. The two activities that students chose were fraction war (where they used playing cards to create fractions and the larger fraction won the cards) and LCM/GCF Jeopardy. At the end of class I showed students some links that can be used for online review. All of the links are in the resource page of my website. On Tuesday students will be taking their quiz on 2.1-2.5. Have a wonderful long weekend.
Thank you to all the parents who were able to attend curriculum night. It was wonderful meeting you.
