The Lion's Roar Newsletter
June/July-Volume 5, Issue 12
The 2014-2015 school year has been an amazing journey filled with many successes and lasting memories. We would like to thank you, our parents, for all of your support and dedication to our students and school throughout this past year. We have truly enjoyed our journey together and look forward to working with many of you as we continue our pursuit of EXCELLENCE!
Lakeview students, teachers and parents wrapped up the year with a lot of excitement and Lion PRIDE! Many thanks to our generous parent volunteers, community members and Lakeview staff for all your efforts in planning, volunteering, donating and hosting several memorable events that help create many lasting memories! Events such as Field Day, Fifth Grade Graduation Celebration, Kindergarten Completion Ceremony, Fifth Grade BBQ, PTA Family Fun Night and, of course, the Clap Out for our fifth graduating class are a few highlights of the events held the last month of school! Students, staff and parents had the opportunity to celebrate the many milestones accomplished this year and begin long-lasting Lakeview traditions!
As the summer days roll in, our custodial crew is working hard scrubbing floors, walls, cleaning furniture and moving classrooms in preparation for students to return. In addition, Lakeview staff members are attending various workshops and trainings throughout the District, enhancing their knowledge and skills in current teaching and learning trends. Teachers have been involved in Positive Behavior Supports training, technology workshops, STEM workshops and various literacy professional development opportunities including New York Teacher’s College workshop training. They are gearing up for their new students and eager to put into practice all that they have learned.
We are so thankful for our wonderful community and the passage of Proposition E this past spring. As a result, Lakeview Elementary will grow by SIX classrooms! At this time, we are at the early planning stages of the construction timeline. We anticipate the completion and utilization of the six classroom additions for the start of the 2016-2017 school year. Once completed, these classrooms will house several more rigorous learning opportunities for our students!
This summer, the Wentzville School District is changing the way parents will receive their child's teacher assignment. In years past, teacher assignments were mailed to your home address. Beginning this year, teacher assignments will be posted on the Wentzville School District Parent Portal. All teacher assignments will be available to parents on the Parent Portal beginning Monday, August 3, 2015.
Parents must have access to the Parent Portal to review their child's teacher assignment for the 2015-2016 school year. If you need to update your email address, please log on to the Parent Portal and make these changes. Email addresses may not be made over the telephone with the office staff. If you previously had access, but have lost or forgotten your password, please call the office to request your password to be reset. Once the password is reset, you will receive an email with the Parent Portal login information. If you currently do NOT have access to the Parent Portal, click on the following link http://wentzville.k12.mo.us/file.php/44/ParentWebRegForm.pdf and complete the form. In order to initiate access, you will need to bring the completed form and an ID to the office. You will then receive an email with detailed instructions on how to access your child's information.
