Dear Parents, Guardians and Community Members,
I hope that you all enjoyed a wonderful holiday break with family and friends. You are all invited to join me for a Principal's Advisory discussion about school climate from 6:00 to 6:30 on Wednesday, January 13th.
Elementary Arts Award
The Connecticut Association of Schools ("CAS") Elementary Arts Award is given to two students in the sixth grade who show outstanding ability in the performing or visual arts. James Morris School is proud to present Nastassia Lopez and Elliot Johnson as this year's award winners.
Aside from their accomplishments in the arts, each student also exhibits traits that position them for success in all areas of school and beyond. Nastassia was recognized for her enthusiasm towards learning, life, and her peers, and Elliot's recognition is reflective of his responsibility and motivation for learning. The students and their families are invited to a celebratory banquet at the Aqua Turf in February.
JMS to Host All RSD6 K-6 Students
Next Friday, January 15th, James Morris School will host all K-6 students and staff from both Goshen Center School and Warren School for a cultural awareness assembly and grade-level activities. Artists from New Haven specializing in African dance and drumming will perform at JMS in an interactive assembly attended by all. Following, students and staff will break into groups by grade level, allowing the children from each of the three schools to meet, interact, and have lunch their peers from across the district. We look forward to this collaborative effort leading to additional interactions between the schools, both though visits and technology. On behalf of the three principal, I thank each of the school's PTOs for sponsoring the assembly.
