Eagle Elementary
November 20, 2020
We look forward to a weekend ahead that we hope brings rest and rejuvenation. Next week will be a short school week partnered with Thanksgiving Break. I am certainly grateful for a successful first half of the school year that we have experienced as an Eagle family! A dedicated group of educators in collaboration with a gracious, supportive group of families has helped us navigate the toughest of times. And for that, I am thankful! We hope you enjoy the slower pace with family next week as well!
Please note the following items:
Food Drive November 23 & 24!
No School on November 25, 26, and 27 for Thanksgiving Break!
Spirit Wear Shop is OPEN!. See the PTO section below for details.
CoVID testing: Which tests are acceptable? The only negative result that will allow a child/staff member back into school is a PCR. (A negative rapid antigen test for SARS-CoV-2 is not acceptable for a return to school.) More information located below.
Sincerely,
Andrew

Second Step Home Links are simple, fun activities that encourage interaction between students and their adult family members, caregivers, or other important adults. The activities give students a chance to practice Second Step skills outside of school and help families learn about the skills so they can use them at home.

PTO News
Eagle Spirit Wear Shop is Open!
Help for Teacher & Staff Holiday Snack/Gift Card Cart: Unfortunately we will be unable to do our traditional PTO sponsored Cookie Walk this year for Teachers and Staff that so many of you help with. While we are sad that this tradition will not take place this year, we feel like we have come up with a great alternative to help our teachers feel cared for and appreciated. Therefore we are asking for your help to provide a holiday themed snack cart (prepackaged/individual snack items) and a gift card grab bag. Monetary donations are welcome to support these efforts. Please use the following link to make a donation: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=MHYDMXV58GGYN There is a spot where you can add “special instructions for seller”…just make a note there that the money given is for Teacher Services. Also please note if you mark you are paying “friends or family” rather than buying “goods and services” then Eagle PTO is not charged a processing fee.
Thank you to Amore Pizzeria for another *record breaking* donation from our dining night in Election Day! And a huge thank you to all of you families who participated. We are keeping *some* things going during 2020!
Our next dining night is Dec 8 with HotBox Pizza on Michigan Rd. Please make plans to participate! Just mention the dining night when you order.

COVID TESTING
There is some new information on our radar which was confirmed through a conversation with the Boone County Health Department this past week. We want families informed so they can make the best decision for your respective family members.
Some COVID tests are not currently accepted by the Department of Health for return to school/work –
- The only negative result that will allow a child/staff member back into school is a PCR. (Per IN Dept of Health and Boone County Health Department, a negative rapid antigen test for SARS-CoV-2 is not acceptable for a return to school.)
- Schools can accept any antigen test if it comes back positive---We will treat as a positive case (Through this process, we will inform you of isolation/quarantine protocols as required by the state and county health departments.)
- If a family/household member has a PCR antigen test that comes back negative and the individual has no symptoms, then no other testing is necessary. Students can return to school.
- If symptomatic and rapid antigen comes back negative then a follow up PCR test is required due to the high rate of false negatives in the rapid antigen test.
Important NOTE: * If an individual has had a close contact with a positive COVID case, a negative test cannot shorten the quarantine period.
