Parent Update

As the end of a school year has quickly approached, I wanted to thank families, staff, and especially the students for their work in quite a historic public-school year. I am very excited for next year, but we still have a lot of work left to do this year. Below are the plans for some of our end of the year activities we have planned for our 8th grade class. As indicated in an email sent out to families, we will not be hosting a traditional promotion but instead we will be celebrating them with various opportunities to allow them to share in some common, fun, experiences together. Our 7th grade will be doing some things on their teams during the last week in culmination of their 7th grade years.

As for the 8th grade we will be participating in the following events:

Monday, June 21st we will all be going on a full day field trip and returning back to school at 3:30 pm. Late busses will be available for students and those will depart at 5:00 pm. If students take the late bus, they will here on campus from the time they return from the trip until they depart on the late bus, they will not be allowed to take a late bus if they leave campus upon their return from the trip. Students MUST have their permission slips and waivers in PRIOR to the date indicated on the permission slip as those dates are firm.

Tuesday, June 22nd we will bring the 8th grade students together for a brief celebration assembly first thing in the morning. We will be acknowledging a few students with some select academic awards. For those 15 or so students, a team leader will reach out to the families involved and allow for 2 parents to attend, if they are available. The awards will be followed by the students having some time as a team. We will do an afternoon BBQ which will be followed by a quick 8th grade meeting just before the end of the day. We are looking forward to this week where we can celebrate the 8th graders’ accomplishments.

Our last day of school for all students is a half-day on Wednesday, June 23rd. I wanted to thank all the parents and families for their efforts this school year as it was clearly a year like none other. I’m proud of our staff and what they were able to do to not only provide superior instruction, but to also meet kids where they were. I know we have a lot of work left prior to the end of the year, but I wanted to wish everyone a safe, healthy, and fun summer season.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly.
