Oak Room Newsletter
Week of September 15th, 2014
This week (as told by the Oak Room Kindergartners)...
During recess we got to play on the playground instead of the in the yard. Some of us slid down the spiral pole.
In music we went around in a circle and we sang songs. This week we sang "Engine, Engine Number 9".
In sustainability we glued cotton balls and tissue paper to look like flowers.
We made necklaces with beads and string. Some people used beads shaped like hearts in different colors. We made necklaces for our teachers, grown ups, and ourselves!
At our Community Gathering we sang "We All Live in a Yellow Submarine". We also sang a song about animals. The song ended with a rooster singing "cockadoodledoodleeedoodleeedoooo."
We practiced walking up and down the stairs. We practiced walking in two lines. It's important that we don't bump into people and keep our heads facing the front so we don't fall down.
In Dramatic Play some of us cooked corn muffins. Some of us were princesses that were trapped in the green blanket.
In Blocks some of us made a big, huge house. Some of us made a house for the cats on the top of a roof.
We started a new ten frame for the 11th day of school! It has yellow dots instead of blue.
Please take home rest blankets & stuffed animals every Friday to be washed over the weekend.
We are seeking a volunteer to come in and spray/wipe down the children's rest mats once a week. We are also seeking a few volunteers to come in once or twice a week to wash children's water bottles. Please email us if you are interested.
We will be going on a field trip to the Whitney Museum on October 17th to visit the Koons exhibit. Parent chaperone opportunities and more information to come!
