STAAR Testing
6th grade students will be taking the STAAR tests for math and reading Monday and Tuesday. 5th grade students will be taking STAAR science test on Wednesday. This is a statewide measurement of success for understanding concepts that have been taught throughout the year and skills that will be necessary for their subsequent years in school. They have been prepared and they are ready. We are excited to see them shine!
Please be sure your child is well-rested and has had a nice breakfast for each day of testing. We would encourage you to send a water bottle (with a secure lid) and healthy snacks (pretzels, cheese sticks, granola bars, apple slices) to sustain your child during testing as lunches will be on a later schedule. Please be sure snacks are not messy or would leave a residue on the testing materials (ie: Cheetos, takis, oranges).
Also, please be aware that cell phones will be powered off and collected during testing. This includes activity trackers and smart watches. It is fine if you choose for your child to leave their devices at home for these two days.
Harrison Intermediate will be a closed campus on these testing days for all students and we will not have visitors in the building. Please limit drop offs to the front office only. Thank you for your support and we look forward to amazing results from all of our Buccaneers!

Fidgits and Toys
Instruction is still going strong at Harrison! Starting today, fidget spinners, slime, and other small toys should not be visible at Harrison. We ask that you leave these items at home as they have started causing disruptions in class. Thank you in advance for your support!

Cell Phones
Students may bring cell phones to school; however, they are to be turned off during the instructional part of the day unless the teachers asks that they be used to support student learning and instruction. Students should not be placing calls, receiving texts or calls, texting during the school day unless asked to do so by an adult in the building. If your child is ill, he or she is to report to the clinic and the school nurse will call parents accordingly. Cell phones may be confiscated and returned at the end of the day if students are not following campus expectations.
