Captain's Log
PASS CHRISTIAN PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT
Ahoy, Pirates!
What a difference a few hours makes! We stand at the precipice of what can and will be a defining moment for us as we are faced with the unknown. What gives me great comfort is that we have been here before. Our community has looked a hurricane in the face and overcame massive destruction. Whereas this is that moment where we are awaiting landfall, we know that we must take shelter, plan, and prepare for what may come. We find ourselves at yet another pivotal moment in our history and are thankful for those who laid the groundwork for us that gives us hope that, like our state champion, Kamdyn Skinner, we will meet this challenge with courage, conviction, and skill to rise above it. So, I say thank you to those who were here then for we will look to you now for strength, direction, and encouragement. Lauren Lewis shared a quote by Darrin Peppard that is so befitting of this moment. It reads, "In the end, it will be impossible to know if we overreacted or did too much; but, it will be QUITE apparent if we under reacted or did too little." What will future Pirates say of us? Put on your creative hats, Pirates! Let's show them what we and our children are made of!
With that, I submit the Captain's Log. #2020vision #committedtoeXcellence #eXcellencemarksthespot cje

CDC: How do I clean and disinfect surfaces?
- If surfaces are dirty, they should be cleaned using a detergent or soap and water prior to disinfection.
- For disinfection, diluted household bleach solutions, alcohol solutions with at least 70% alcohol, and most common EPA-registered household disinfectants should be effective.
- Diluted household bleach solutions can be used if appropriate for the surface. Follow manufacturer’s instructions for application and proper ventilation. Check to ensure the product is not past its expiration date. Never mix household bleach with ammonia or any other cleanser. Unexpired household bleach will be effective against coronaviruses when properly diluted.
- Prepare a bleach solution by mixing:
- 5 tablespoons (1/3 cup) bleach per gallon of water or
- 4 teaspoons bleach per quart of water
- Products with EPA-approved emerging viral pathogens claimspdf iconexternal icon are expected to be effective against COVID-19 based on data for harder to kill viruses. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for all cleaning and disinfection products (e.g., concentration, application method and contact time, etc.).
- For soft (porous) surfaces such as carpeted floor, rugs, and drapes, remove visible contamination if present and clean with appropriate cleaners indicated for use on these surfaces.
- If the items can be laundered, launder items in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions using the warmest appropriate water setting for the items and then dry items completely.
- Otherwise, use products with the EPA-approved emerging viral pathogens claims (examples at this linkpdf iconexternal icon) that are suitable for porous surfaces
