Principal's Message
Dear Parents,
Feel that cool crisp air, Fall is here! As the temperature continues to decrease, please send your child to school with a coat for outdoor recess. I also ask that you make sure your child's name is in the jacket.
As you know, this year we will be having our annual Parent/Teacher conferences on Tuesday, November 5th from 12:00-7:00PM. Please be on time for your scheduled time slot so that the teachers can meet with everyone in an efficient manner.
We have some exciting things happening this month. We have carnival night, our PTA Auction, and our first session of our Enrichment For All workshops. On November 18th, our fifth and 6th grade parents will have their Growth and Development Parent meeting at 7:00pm at HDF.
I hope to see you throughout the month. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me. From all of us at Camp Avenue, we hope you and your family enjoy a very happy and healthy Thanksgiving holiday.
Sincerely,
Hillary Bromberg Ed.D.

Important Reminder about Absences
Please be reminded that regular school attendance is not only mandated by law, but is a key ingredient for educational success. Legal reasons for absences include: illness, death in family, court appearances, and observance of religious holidays. If your child is frequently absent due to illness, you will be contacted and medical documentation may be requested. All other absences will be considered unexcused or truant.
Please also be aware that lateness to school can be considered partial truancy and is monitored as closely as absences. Chronic lateness is disruptive to the students in the class, the teacher, and most importantly, to the child. Parents and guardians are asked to contact the school to report each absence. This can be done by calling our Absentee Line at 516-379-3733. If you are requesting classwork and/or homework for your child on the day of the absence, please leave that message with the nurse or on the absence line. Parents are requested to submit a written and signed excuse note for each absence your child has, when they return to school.
Red Ribbon Week
Digital Citizenship Week
During the week of October 14-18 all classes viewed grade level appropriate videos and had a discussion about positive usages of the internet and social media. Many tips were shared on how to be a good digital citizen as well as how to be safe on the internet. A Span Wall was created to showcase ideas that the students and staff discussed.
