CHS Senior Yearbook Photo Requirements
All seniors get a photo taken with our official photographer during the in-school studio days so that there is a reserved spot on our layout. Dates are scheduled for September 5 with retakes on October 3. If students wish to replace that photograph with one taken by another photographer, the replacement photo must be emailed to Vicki.francis@boiseschools.org by November 1, 2018.
The studio will provide everything needed for a professional, high quality photograph and will submit the picture to the yearbook staff. There will be no sitting fee, no charge for the yearbook photo submission and there will be the option to purchase more prints.
The studio will provide the tux jacket and shirt for boys and the drape for girls.
To help keep mistakes to a minimum, we post yearbook proof pages TWO TIMES in the hallway outside room 202. This usually happens in December and January. STUDENTS MUST CHECK THESE PROOF PAGES to confirm that we have their photo, name is spelled correctly and photo is placed in correct spot.
Using a different photographer? The following requirements must be followed:
Attire must be school appropriate and not in violation of dress code.
1. Send digital file to Vicki.francis@boiseschools.org by Nov. 1.
2. Gentleman should have a black tux or suit jacket
3. Ladies’ attire should consist of a black drape. For modesty, covered shoulders and head coverings are acceptable.
4. No feathers, turtlenecks, or fluff.
5. No props (football, roses, etc.)
6. No hands.
7. Use a simple, uncluttered background. Use only soft, muted colors and avoid bright colors.
8. Do not use soft focus.

FAFSA Information:
The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) opens on October 1. Families of students going on to college (2-year, 4-year, Career-Technical, etc.) are strongly encouraged to complete the FAFSA, whether you think you qualify or not. There are scholarships at many colleges that require the FAFSA to be completed, not necessarily that you qualify for any need-based aid.
If your family has never completed a FAFSA, I especially encourage you to come to the Information Night on Oct. 2!
Last year, Capital had over 60% of our students complete a FAFSA. This year I hope for even more students to be completers!!
I will give a $5 Dutch Bros. gift card to students that show me they have submitted their FAFSA. Students can bring in proof on their phone or printed out SAR (Student Aid Report).
I will also be helping families by staying late on Tuesdays. From 3:30-6:30, I will be here with assistance from college representatives, assisting families with their FAFSA. See schedule above.
If you cannot make it on a Tuesday, please contact me and we can make arrangements for another date and time!
Things you will need to complete the FAFSA:
Set up your FSAID (federal student aid I.D.) https://fsaid.ed.gov
Social Security number or Alien Registration #
Driver’s License
2017 Income tax form, with W-2’s
Boise National College Fair
On Oct. 31, over 100 colleges and universities will come to the Boise Expo Idaho to talk with our students. Juniors in the Boise School District will be taken to the Fair during the day. Parents and other grades are welcome any time as well; however there is an evening session that we encourage students and their parents to attend in order to get in quality conversations with the college representatives. Stay tuned for more information.
College Application Days at Capital
In October seniors will be completing college applications through their American Government class. It’s a chance for all students to know that they can go to college and that filling out an application isn’t so difficult. Each class will come to the Career Center where we will complete the Apply Idaho application, one application for all Idaho colleges and universities, including NNU and the College of Idaho. Students will request their transcripts and complete or begin the application for the Opportunity Scholarship, sponsored by the State Board of Education.
Seniors should be receiving in the mail soon a letter from the State Board of Education notifying them of their pre-acceptance to colleges and universities in Idaho, seniors need to apply but will be admitted to the colleges and universities that are in their letter. Seniors must complete all required materials that are requested as a follow up by the colleges. So, it’s important for students to read their emails from the colleges they apply to!
Be watching the mail for this letter!
