Eagle's Eye View: Parent Edition
May 2017
Del Director
Dear Padres,
Once again, as school is wrapping up, I want to share some research with you that will, hopefully, remind you of how incredibly astute you all were to have chosen a bilingual education for your amazing children! This research always makes me get even more excited about all of the wonderful things that we do at ZIS. With that being said, I always want to say GRACIAS to you all for being such a crucial part to Zarrow’s success. These past weeks there have been many events, meetings, etc., and I constantly find myself bragging about how wonderful the parent body is at Zarrow. As I told, just last week, another parent, “Zarrow truly is great, but without our parents we could not do all we do and continue to break the status quo.” And I could not be more honest with you all. It amazes me that our school community is truly family-like and it is a humbling experience. So, we have the best teachers, best padres, and by far the BEST ZARROW EAGLES ever! I hope you all enjoy this article and that as you walk around the school you see that research is being converted into a reality for the futures of our shining bilingual and biliterate Eagles. Together, we are supporting students who will become incredible global citizens of whom we will always be so proud!
All my best…always, and with MUCH gratitude!
Sr. Kellito

Focus on Foundation
Dear Zarrow Family,
As we wrap up what has been another AMAZING school year, I want to reflect on some of the successes we have had over the past 9 months:
1. Highest test scores in the district & among the top in all of Oklahoma.
2. Highest attendance rate in all of TPS.
3. NO HOMEWORK POLICY
4. An A+ grade as a school.
5. Teachers, Principal, & staff winning all kinds of awards.
6. Most applicants ever for Kinder.
7. Most applicants ever for next school year's 5th grade Exchange program.
8. Record fundraising efforts at VIVA ZARROW & S.O.S.
Zarrow is WINNING in tons of different areas! Why? It takes a ton of time & effort, but the answer is quite simple really....LEADERSHIP! It starts at the top with Señor Kellito, then our WONDERFUL teachers & staff, and then us as parents. Zarrow truly is a big family that pulls together to make our community THE BEST!
On behalf of The Foundation, I want to say thank you to everyone who invested in our children this school year! We appreciate your dedication to our kids & their education!
I would be remiss if I didn't include my thoughts on some tearful goodbyes:
To all 5 of our AMITY interns, GRACIAS! Your contribution to Zarrow has been tremendous and will have a lasting impact on every student you interacted with.
To any teachers & staff that are moving on, THANK YOU for your years of service & dedication & the hundreds of lives you have positively impacted!
Finally, to Señor Kellito...Thank you for ALL you have been to ZIS these past 2 years! Your enthusiasm has been infectious for everyone, especially our students and teachers. Thank you for ALL you have done to fight for our school & for all your hard work even when it wasn't easy! I have thoroughly enjoyed working with you to KEEP ZARROW GREAT! Best of luck in your future endeavors. Know that you will always be remembered & forever be a part of our Zarrow community! We will ALL miss you.
With that, I wish you all a safe & wonderful summer break!
Sincerely,
Jonathan Arnold
Counselor's Corner
Thank you to everyone whose support and love made my 13 years at Zarrow joyous ones for me! Thanks to Sr. Kellito who made coming to school so much fun and for his emphasis on character education along with global learning; and to Jania Wester for her positive and loving spirit and guidance; to my beloved faculty whose continued work and dedication improves the academic, emotional and social lives of our children; to the parents who care deeply about the well-being of their children and our school; and most of all to the children who enrich my life. I have always had a deep compassion for the value of human beings. This passion led me down the path to becoming a counselor. And it is a path which I will always be grateful. My life has been blessed many times over by the students, faculty and families I’ve had the opportunity to serve. My career as a counselor has also enabled me to grow educationally, professionally and spiritually. Being a counselor is a career in which one can make a difference – a difference that is evident at the end of each day.
I will treasure your friendship and memories in my retirement. I have loved the years with you watching Zarrow become the amazing school it is today. I have felt blessed the past two years to come to school with a smile in my heart thanks to the positive atmosphere for learning that Sr. Kellito encourages and promotes. In conclusion, remember to continue to honor our namesake, Henry Zarrow. He was a humble man, a philanthropist and he loved the children.
I am grateful to be a part of all the good things at Zarrow!
Ann
