Endeavour School - 31st January 2023

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
A very big welcome back to you all. Myself and our team are looking forward to having you back here on site tomorrow, energised and excited to get back into school and all the wonderful things this entails.
I would like to acknowledge our colleagues, friends and family members who have been impacted by the weather events over the weekend. For many, this has been a traumatic experience. If you know someone or have close ones impacted, our thoughts are with you. On Thursday we will gratefully accept donations of clothes and toys which we can pass onto the Auckland City Mission for collection.
Last week, our team spent 4 days here at school engaging in a range of Professional Development, as well as setting up our learning environments ready for the new school year. As always, it was nice to reconnect and discuss the learning and priorities for the year ahead. A major part of these discussions was centred around our co teaching models and the furniture design of our spaces. We all feel very privileged to be able to teach and learn in an ILE, they provide us many more opportunities to support learning and deliver on great outcomes for kids. One key plus is that ability for us to work collaboratively and co teach. This allows for greater reflection of our practice as well as more variety for our children to learn in a way that best suits them.
At the end of last term we hosted our Student Led Conferences using a different format. The feedback that I gathered from both our community and team was positive. However, I am conscious that there are many families I did not catch. If you have 2 minutes I would appreciate you taking the time to fill out the survey by clicking on this link SLC Survey. This will help us gather more information about the experience for you and your child/ren.
As a parent of 2 school aged boys I understand that people's lives are busy and we all have lots going on. Our aim is to support you with keeping on top of things from a school perspective. Therefore, we aim to ensure that our communication with you is meaningful, informative and timely. Our school app is a great way to stay across the many events and dates we have across the school year. These can also be found on our website. Please take the time to update your notifications and subscriptions on our school app. (Please see instructions below).
This coming Thursday we have our Meet the Teacher Whaanau Picnic afternoon here at school from 4.30pm - 6.00pm. This is designed for our community to informally meet and greet each other over a BYO picnic, as well as take some time to meet your children's teachers and explore their learning environments. At this stage we are still hoping this will go ahead. A final decision will be made Wednesday afternoon, depending on the weather conditions.
Once again, we look forward to welcoming you back from 8.30am tomorrow.
Warm regards
Geoff
