Davidson Family Newsletter

December 2021

Principal's Message

Hello Davidson Families,

It is hard to believe we are already in December! In the next few weeks, classroom teachers will be assessing students and celebrating all the wonderful academic growth. We use this mid-year assessment information to plan ahead and customize learning for students. Look for updates from your child's teacher about FastBridge scores and reading progress. If your child needs a little extra support with reading consider making reading fun and something that is done in your home with daily tasks such as cooking, watching T.V. ( keep the closed captions on) or following directions when building legos or playing video games will help your child(ren) grow as readers. Home should be a place where kiddos can relax and have some amazing family time, adding even a little bit of reading in a fun way, will help your child immensely.

December is a month that tends to fly by but is also a little stressful. Seeing family that you normally don't see, changes in income, and busier than normal schedules can add a layer of stress to the winter season. In that light, I wanted to share with you all that in December we have some extra resources that are donated to the school. We offer haircuts, gifts, food items and other sources just call the school if we could help your family in any way. Let us know how we can help. We are always here to partner with you!

Ms. Wades Resources and Helpful Information

Over the past year and a half, we have heard a lot about mental health and anxiety in children. This isn’t new information but we are paying more attention to it and that can be a very good thing. One of the results of paying more attention is learning new strategies to deal with our big feelings. I want to share one of my favorite strategies with our Davidson families. The strategy is called “tapping”. It is a scientifically based intervention that has proven positive impact of emotional regulation. (It helps us to feel more calm.). This link is to a book on youtube about tapping. Enjoy!
