Hints and Tricks for October
For those of you that aren't familiar with me, my name is Sarah and I am the new Learning Coordinator that will be working with the ELL crew. I'm from northern BC, but moved to the much warmer weather of Vancouver Island last year.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as I am learning my new role. Loa has left some big and amazing shoes to fill! I appreciate all your help and I am excited for us to be coming on this journey together.
If you need any help, have questions, or are curious about some collaboration, please let me know at email@example.com
Can't wait to get to know all of you!
P.S. - If you do NOT want to be on this mailing list, please let me know! I've tried to remove people who have requested to be taken off, but I might have missed you. Thanks!
October's To Do List:
- Update and complete all AIPs
- Place hardcopies of new AIPS in Yellow Files
- Don't forget that AIP goals can and should be updated throughout the year to reflect new learning
- Log AIP meetings, consultations, and assessments into ELLMS
All AIP documents are available on NLPSLearns
Meet the Family
Connection to families will help both you and your student to find success! You have already sent the service letter home with your students, but this might be an opportunity to get to know the families on a more personal level.
Families aren't ready to connect to you? No worries! They will come in their own time - but be open and ready for when they do.
Is language a barrier for the parents/guardians?
We have Moy and Julia that can support in Arabic and Mandarin! We also have a relationship with Central Vancouver Island Multicultural Society who can help us if other language supports are needed.
CVIMS Parent Nights
October 27 at 6pm will be the first evening with a focus on "How To NLPS" and will discuss report cards, attendance, school website, etc.
If you have any questions, please let me know!
