As part of the goals and mission of the Abriendo Caminos/Opening Pathways for Students of Color into the Teaching Profession, we are holding workshops to support preservice teachers, inservice teachers, parents, and high school students in learning more about research, advocacy, and scholarship so that we can join together in the cause for social justice through identifying, examining, and better understanding issues relevant to supporting students and families of color in our communities.
If you are interested, please click here and fill out this survey to help us learn more about what kinds of activities will serve you best. We will contact you you in the next few weeks and begin the workshops in July, culminating in August. We then hope to have a core group begin research projects they have collaboratively developed in the 17-18 school year.
Hosted in collaboration with the UNLV College of Education, Multicultural Education Services Alliance grant project Abriendo Caminos/Opening Pathways for Students of Color into the Teaching Profession funded by the Nevada Department of Education Great Teaching & Leading Grant. Principal Investigator: Dr. Allison Smith, Director of Assessment and Teacher Education.
