iTeach MakerCamp 2019
Day 3--June 5
Maker Camp Day 3
Today we explored Art and Leonardo da Vinci. Our campers were so surprised to learn that he was an artist and an inventor. They learned to code music in the Viola Organista, create a self-propelled cart, paint a fresco and find his secret workshop.
Updates / Reminders
- We post pictures to Seesaw throughout the camp day. Don't forget to check them out!
- Send a refillable water bottle with your child - we have filtered bottle refill stations on campus.
- Friday afternoon is the student-directed conference time for your child to share with you all that he or she has learned this week. Please plan to be here about 2:15 pm so your child can share with you.
- Lunch Friday will be in the Commons. It is a favorite of our campers so no need to pack a lunch on Friday. You just need to send a snack.
- Bring your favorite board game tomorrow for our afternoon time. We will do our best to keep all the pieces together, but with so many children in the room lost pieces could be a reality.
- Tomorrow we will be painting so please send your child in clothes that can get paint on them with no worry of getting the paint out.
Day 3 Highlights
Morning Meeting and Maker Sessions
We used our morning meeting time to learn about Leonardo da Vinci and all his contributions to the world. An artist and an inventor are both makers. Our campers coded a tune using MakeyMakey in the Viola Organista session; created a self-propelled cart using Ozobots; created a Solo cup ship to 'sink' the balloon attached to another 'ship' using Spheros; painted a self-portrait and a fresco aka plaster disc; and searched for da Vinci's secret workshop using Cubetto.
Afternoon Fun
We beat the rain and had our lunch and recess outside. This gives our campers an opportunity to recharge for our afternoon activities.
Quivervision
Check out this app/site. If you saw your child with the owl mask in a Seesaw post, this is the app/site we used to make it happen.
