Hypothesis
I think the skittle will dissolve faster in the vinegar. I predict this because vinegar has more components to it that will help break it down.
Materials
- 2 orange skittles
- 1 cup cold water
-1 cup vinegar
-table top/ flat surface
-stopwatch
Procedure
fill one cup half way with water and place it on your table or flat surface. Next you will fill your other cup half way with vinegar and place it next to your cup of water. After that you will have a partner drop your skittles in your water and vinegar at the same time. Once they are placed start timing it to see which one dissolves completely first.
Results
time to dissolve in water: 3 minutes
time to dissolve in vinegar: 1 minute
Conclusion
I found in my experiment that it took less time for the skittle to dissolve in vinegar. It took 1 minute for the skittle to dissolve in vinegar as opposed to the water which took 3 minutes to dissolve. So my hypothesis " I think the skittle will dissolve faster in the vinegar. I predict this because vinegar has more components to it that will help break it down." was correct
