Honoring Black Heroes
Black History Month is that time for all of us to acknowledge key figures from our past and present. During Morning Assembly this month we are sharing and learning about the contributions and legacy of important African Americans across U.S. history and society. This week we will be focusing on the contributions and impact on our lives today by the following heroes:
Fredrick Douglass - Harriet Tubman - Jackie Robinson - Daisy Gatson Bates - Rosa Parks
Every Day Counts
School attendance is essential to academic success, excused as well as unexcused absences can add up to academic trouble.
Chronic absences and missing 10 percent of the school year, or just 2-3 days every month can translate into third-graders unable to master reading, sixth-graders failing courses and ninth-graders dropping out of high school.
We are here to support and partner with you to help your scholar(s) attend school.
Vision Screening
On Wednesday, February 15th and Thursday, Feb 16th we will be doing vision screening for students who were absent at our initial screening day earlier this year and those who we were unable to get results on. Students who are new to Lake Grove will also be part of the vision screening.
This vision screening will help support you and the school knowing if your child might need additional supports to reach their full potential in learning.

At the event, you can check out booths, engaging and informative panel discussions, interactive activities, and more! The event will spark STEM curiosity in young students and provide further insight into career possibilities for our emerging leaders. Students of all grade levels will find what they need to explore, prepare, and launch into one of the many STEM opportunities leading to high-demand careers in our region.
Did you know? By 2030, 87% of high-demand, family-sustaining jobs will require a postsecondary degree or credential, and 67% of those jobs will be STEM-related ยน.
