Term 2 Week 7 Friday 4 June

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Confirmation on Saturday night was a reverent and beautiful celebration, with children, staff and families all in fine form! The responses to the mass have been very positive, and affirming too for the parish based sacramental programme. This programme runs extremely well at Our Lady of the Rosary in its current form. Long may it continue!

Kindy 2023 interviews commence next week. The interest being shown by prospective new families in joining our school community is something we never take for granted. Most are here because of what other people - you - have said to them we so appreciate the support - thank you very much.

Have a fabulous long weekend!

See you next week Tuesday.

Please DO NOT send unwell children to school. With heightened sensitivity around illness this is of central importance. Thank you so much for your support.

This week we have had only one gastro case at school. This is such a change! Thank you very much for your support.

As far as colds are concerned, we have seen a spike in children attending while they are unwell. We know many parents and guardians are keeping their children home, but there are a number of others who also need to do so. Some may see this expectation as an inconvenience, but the fact remains that, when children come to school unwell, these things spread, and affect adults and children alike.

Please include your child's NAME, CLASS (e.g. 5C, 6D) and REASON FOR ABSENCE in the email. admin@hrs.wa.edu.au

You can also submit an Absentee form by clicking on the 'Families' tab on our website https://www.hrs.wa.edu.au/

Please remember if you receive an SMS saying your child is absent - please reply with your name, your child's name and class and reason for absence.

CPSSA A Division Swimming Carnival

On Friday May 28 Holy Rosary competed in the CPSSA A Division Swimming Carnival at HBF Stadium. There were some amazing performances on the day and the atmosphere in the squad was exciting as our swimmers gave 110% in every race.

Out of the 16 schools in the association Holy Rosary placed 3rd in A division which was the best performance in swimming since I have been at the school. We were all very proud of our squad, it was an amazing effort for a school of our size.

As always, I would like to thank our staff and parent helpers that supported the squad on the day, your efforts are very much appreciated.

The carnival program now moves onto the Winter Sports Carnival for Year 6 on June 18 and the Holy Rosary Cross Country June 25 for Y 3-6 students so we can look forward to more great efforts this term. Keep an eye on seesaw for more information in the coming weeks.

Miss Neeson in Year 4 and 5. She was a lot of fun and very quirky. She would wear snow boots in Kununurra when it was 45°C.

Is there anything you wished would come back into fashion?

Do you love or hate rollercoasters?

What’s your favourite family tradition?

Watching the Bledisloe Cup each year – my family divides into two and our competitive streak really comes out.

Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life?

Margot Robbie.

What’s your favourite zoo animal?

Either an elephant or emperor tamarin.

What was the last book you read?

Cloudstreet by Tim Winton.

If you could share a meal with any 4 individuals, living or dead, who would they be?

James Acaster, Heath Ledger, Elon Musk and J. K. Rowling.

If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?

Fly to Tasmania to see my parents and my family dog.

If you were a super-hero, what powers would you have?

Teleportation or telekinesis would be quite convenient. Imagine never having to get up for the TV remote or to turn the light off when you’re comfy in bed!

Music News

All our Holy Rosary students enjoyed a concert last Wednesday by ‘The Rhythm Works’. It was a culmination of 12 weeks of work, making music with percussion instruments and everyday objects. The main focus was learning about rhythm, dynamics, tempo, and jammin’ with our friends!!

Looking after our environment and our oceans are the library themes for this week, in recognition of Environment Day and World Ocean Day. All Book Fair re-orders have been delivered to the children. Thank you for your patience while these were despatched from Melbourne under difficult circumstances. Yesterday we celebrated our Junior Chess Umpires. Thank you all for your service. Without our umpires, we could not have a chess tournament. This week also saw the start of the Senior Chess Tournament. We have 73 talented children competing in round 1 over the next 3 weeks. Good luck to you all!
