Ongoing Information (12.31.2021)

Saint Catharine of Siena, pray for us.

Below is the information that we posted previously that is still prevalent.

Car Line Gentle Reminders

  • Cars may enter the lot after 3:00 pm.
  • Please have your number clearly visible to our staff, thank you.
  • Please do not double park on 24th Street or Fairview Avenue. This prohibits the buses from progressing towards 23rd street, which delays children getting home at their scheduled time.
  • Please proceed up "the scary hill" with caution and out 23rd street at the lower exit.

Health and Safety Protocols

At this time, and always, it is imperative that you continue to monitor ALL of your family members for symptoms of Covid-19, which include fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell, congestion or runny nose, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. If your child, or ANYONE in your household, is having ANY of these symptoms, please keep your child(ren) home from school and immediately report symptoms to your family’s primary care physician, as well as school officials. If you or any members of your household develop symptoms of COVID-19 or have symptoms worsen, notify your local health department or the Pennsylvania Department of Health immediately at 1-877-724-3258 and contact a healthcare provider. Before seeking medical attention, let the health care provider know about the possible exposure to a case of COVID-19.

It is also imperative to be sure your child continues to wear an appropriate CDC approved mask that properly covers their noses and mouth. Please continue to keep your child(ren) home if you believe that ANYONE in your household may have been exposed to COVID-19, even if he or she is not currently experiencing related symptoms. In this instance, please notify your family’s primary care physician, as well as school officials.

Please visit the Pennsylvania Department of Health website ( for the latest and most accurate information about COVID-19.

Winter Uniform News

Saint Catharine of Siena School

Attention: Middle School Girls

2330 Perkiomen Avenue

Reading, PA 19606

October 22, 2021

Dear Middle School Girls:

Thank you for submitting your petition to provide the option of allowing girls (Grades 1- 8) to wear pants during the winter uniform season. The petition was received and reviewed Wednesday, October 20, 2021.

Your reasons, justifications, and explanations regarding the bus line/recess during the cold temperatures months, the convenience of pockets, the need for comfort, as well as modest uniform choices were compelling, intelligently presented, and well-received.

Beginning Monday, November 1, 2021, girls grades 1-8 will be granted the opportunity to wear navy blue pants with their winter uniform. Girls may purchase their uniform pants at McGinn School Apparel in West Reading.

Please note, navy blue uniform pants are to be worn. They may not be substituted with jeggings, super skinny pants, any type of jeans, or leggings.

Girls Grades 1-8 may choose to wear the navy blue uniform pants, blue socks, the winter collared shirt and the SCS blue sweater in place of the jumper and winter skort.

Thank you for being a voice for the girls of Saint Catharine of Siena School. Job well done in your efforts.

A Note from the Safe Environment Office

We look with hope to the next school year and want to be prepared for the day when volunteers will be welcomed into the school. As you know, several years ago the Diocese of Allentown began requiring clearances for all volunteers ages 18 and older. Several of these clearances are only valid for 5 years. These include the Pennsylvania State Criminal Record Check (PATCH), Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Fingerprints, and Mandated Reporter Certification.

Many volunteers from St. Catharine’s School/Parish have clearances that have already expired or will expire soon. I encourage you to be proactive in renewing your clearances so you are prepared for the day when our school/parish events are fully open.

Please contact Marci Zambito at if you are unsure of the status of your clearances or are in need of a payment code for FBI fingerprints. Directives for all clearances can be found at under the Safe Environment tab.

Thank you!

Box Tops for Education

No more clipping. No more sending Box Tops to school. All you need is your phone. Download the ALL-NEW Box Tops app, shop as you normally would, then simply scan your store receipts to find participating products. The app will automatically credit your school's Box Tops earnings online.

You can still clip them and send them to school. Physical Box Top clips are being phased out of production, but may continue to be found on many products throughout the store. Send your clipped Box Tops, along with any unexpired clips you may have at home, to SCS.

Twice a year, your school will receive a check and can use that cash to buy whatever it needs!
