Gifted and Talented in the Wausau School District
September 2022
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! Because you are a parent of a GT identified elementary school student, you are invited to attend a Gifted & Talented Parent Meeting on Thursday, September 29, 2022, in the gymnasium at Rib Mountain Elementary School. While your children are welcome to attend, this meeting is designed for parents.
Beginning at 5:45, please sign in, enter our drawings for door prizes, view our parent resources cart (check out items if interested), and introduce yourself to your child’s GT Learning Resource Teacher. (To assist, signs will be posted to identify which teachers serve which buildings.) Building assignments have changed recently for some, so a complete list is shared at the end of this document.
At 6:15, we will invite you to take a seat and join us for the meeting. Information relative to gifted education and services provided in the Wausau School District will be shared. This information is designed for families with newly identified students. All are welcome to stay and listen; however, we recognize that some parents/guardians may attend the meeting for the sole purpose of meeting their child’s GT teacher.
The upcoming WI Association for Talented & Gifted Conference held on October 3 and 4, 2022 at the Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells always proves to provide much valuable information. This state conference is for students, parents and educators. Please visit watg.org for more information if you are interested in attending.
Our main goal for attendance is for you to meet your child’s teacher and to learn more about our programming. There’s no need to worry if you’re unable to attend. Door prizes are compliments of the Wausau School District Gifted and Talented Department and are a small token of our thanks and appreciation. (Again, it’s not necessary for children to be present to win.)
If you have any questions before or after the meeting on the 29th, please feel free to contact me or your child’s GT Learning Resource Teacher. Contact information can be found on the reverse side of this letter.
Sincerely,
Tammy Steckbauer
