Bear Bulletin
Maire newsletter: June 7th edition
Dear Maire Families
Summer is upon us in just one week! I may not do this justice, as it is a daunting task to wrap-up 180 school days into words, but let me share a few takeaways from this year.
Maire is full of KINDNESS. During the course of the year we asked for all members of our school (students, staff, volunteers) to look for “Maire Moment Makers,” someone who goes out of their way to make a memorable moment for you or others. At each Bear Den and during video announcements we shared those “Maire Moments” to celebrate all the kindness shown to others. We have celebrated over 450 acts of kindness this year! We hope those moments are ones that have helped build up pride in our school.
Maire is a FAMILY. In education, relationships are key to success. Our staff have worked from day one to create and build relationships with each student and family. Teachers and parents have partnered together to create goals and communicate about the progress throughout the year. The teachers work hard because they care about the kids. The kids work hard because they care about their teacher. It is the perfect scenario.
Maire is a WELCOMING school. I appreciate the support you have given me this year being new to Maire. That, however, is truly ingrained in your children. I see that welcoming spirit when a new Maire Bear joins us. The class is genuinely excited, willing to be “best friends” with their new classmate. How great is it start at a school and feel like you are wanted, you belong, and you are home!
Maire is SPECIAL. We have amazing kids. We have supportive and caring parents. We have a passionate staff. Regardless of what happens with the future of GP Schools later this month, we can celebrate what has been created at Maire. We have made an amazing school, full of social, emotional and academic growth each and every year.
Thank you for the best first year any principal could ever ask for. It is my absolute pleasure to lead this phenomenal school. Enjoy your summer vacation with your children. I hope you make the most of your time together.
Sincerely ,
Ryan Francis
Proud Principal of Maire

Medication Pick-Up
It is district policy that ALL medication be picked up by an adult at the end of the school . Any medication left after June 14th will be discarded.
Please make arrangements to have an adult pick up your child’s medication by the end of the school year.
Medication Policy
Medication forms are required annually to administer any medication, including over the counter medications provided by parents or guardians.
We are notifying you of this change now so that as you make appointments for sports physicals or immunizations, you can take this with you to obtain the required physician signature.
For this guideline, “physician” refers to any health care provider licensed by the State of Michigan. This form was developed to support our revised Board Policy 5330, which meets new provisions of the State of Michigan Model Policy for Administering Medications to Pupils at Schools. “Medication” includes prescription, non-prescription and herbal medications, and include those taken by mouth, inhaler, injection, and drops or applied to the skin. Medication must be kept in a locked school location, and in a labeled container as prepared by a pharmacy, physician, or pharmaceutical company with the pupil’s name, the name of the medication, the dosage, and the frequency of administration.
For more detail on this or any school board policy and guidelines, visit www.gpschools.org and under the School Board dropdown, click Policy. You can use the search tool to find information by key words.
The annual written permission form MUST be signed by both the parent and physician. This new form is now available on the district website www.gpschools.org and will be part of the online registration process. Please download it today and take to your next appointment.
