The JMS Kindness Tree, designed by Mrs. Fleming and Lilah Pape.
Kindness Challenge Month at JMS
A Note from Your School Psychologist, Mrs. Gina Fleming
March is Kindness Challenge Month at JMS! We have created a Kindness Tree which will be on display in the hall. Teachers and students will recognize acts of kindness they see by adding a leaf to the tree.
On Wednesday I sent home a 30-Day Kindness Challenge calendar. Encourage your child to complete as many random acts of kindness as they can! If your child's calendar didn't make it home, you can download the attached PDF file.
I will also be re-visiting the topic of bullying in my weekly classroom lessons. Please click on the following link to download a printable Bullying Action Plan that you, your child, and JMS staff can use collaboratively to address bullying: Bullying Action Plan. More resources for families on bullying prevention include: ADL Bullying Prevention and National Bullying Prevention Center

Graphic Novels
A note from Mrs. Fodor & Mrs. Connery:
Have you ever wondered how Graphic Novels help you as readers?
Graphic Novels are a fun, engaging way to:
Help readers understand how text and images relate (visual literacy)
Bridge the gap between picture books and novels
Encourage a regular habit of reading at all reading levels
Explain complex topics in an exciting format
Celebrate Your Artist!
A note from Mrs. Sweet:
Students have created beautiful designs in Art classes in partnership with Square 1 Art as a fundraiser to benefit JMS PTO enrichment opportunities such as bringing in guest presenters or providing extracurricular experiences.
Coming home Thursday, March 15th will be your child’s custom catalog featuring their artwork. You can help make your child feel like an accomplished artist by purchasing keepsakes for the whole family containing their masterpiece. The JMS PTO earns profit from every order. And as a thank you for participating, Square 1 Art provides each child with a sheet of FREE stickers printed with their artwork.
All online and paper order forms must be turned into classroom teachers by Thursday, March 29th, payable to Square 1 Art (No late orders can be accepted.) Together, we can help support the school, build your child’s self-esteem, and create lasting keepsakes from your child’s artistic achievements.
