Ways That The African Americans Fought Back
Feature Article
The very famous part of the civil rights movement are of African Americans trying to do peaceful demonstrations. The whites would not allow this and to try preventing them from expressing themselves. The whites would use scare tactics which did not work. The colored's started to do sit-ins and refuse to move. They boycotted against many things and held marches. They did whatever they thought would work in as peaceful of a manner as they could.

The Roots - Can't Turn me around
Can't turn me around The Roots
I like this song because it talks about expressing the fact that they had to keep on walking and would not be forced to turn around. It talks about how they kept on talking as well and marched there way to freedom.
Ain't gonna let nobody, turn me round,
Turn me round, turn me round,
Ain't gonna let nobody, turn me round,
I just keep on a-walkin', keep on a-talkin',
Marching on to freedom land.
Ain't gonna let nobody, turn me round,Lord,
Turn me round, turn me round,
Ain't gonna let nobody, turn me round,
I just keep on a-walkin', keep on a-talkin',
Marching up on freedom land.
Ain't gonna let no jailhouse, turn me round,
Turn me round, turn me round,
Ain't gonna let no jailhouse, turn me round,
Oh, I, keep on a-walkin', keep on a-talkin',
Marching on to freedom land.
I can't let segregation, turn me round,
Turn me round, turn me round,
Ain't gonna let segregation, turn me round,
I'm gonna keep on a-walkin', keep on a-talkin',
Marching on to freedom land.
Ain't gonna let no dogs, Lord, turn me round,
Turn me round, turn me round,
Ain't gonna let no dogs, Lord, turn me round,
I'm gonna keep on a-walkin', keep on a-talkin',
Marching on to freedom land.
Ain't gonna let nobody, turn me round,
Turn me round, turn me round,
Ain't gonna let nobody, turn me round,
I just keep on a-walkin', keep on a-talkin',
Marching on to freedom land.
