Mann Family Update
February 2021
Mann Mission Statement
"Mann Eagles strive to become life-long learners and productive citizens. We do this by always putting forth our best effort, being active in our learning and remaining safe, respectful, and responsible."
A Note from Mrs. Knapp . . .
Hello Mann Families -
Thank you for your grace as I navigate dismissal and the car line. I appreciate you all so much! Thank you for using your car tags. This speeds up our car line and keeps everyone safe. If you are in need of a new one, please contact Amy in the front office.
Second semester is off to a great start. We are so happy to have the teachers and students with us that have returned from virtual.
I am so happy to be at Mann and be able to serve the Mann community while Mrs. Payne is on maternity leave. Please let me know in any way that I can support you and your student. I can be reached at the office 523-4400 or at kjknapp@spsmail.org

Mann Behavior Expectations
CLICK ON THE IMAGE (to the left) TO ACCESS OUR BEHAVIOR MATRIX. This document outlines our behavior expectations for every area of the building. Teachers will continue to reteach and practice these expectations throughout the school year with their students. Feel free to review these expectations with your child at home to help reinforce positive choices while at school.
A Note from Nurse Kati
The American Heart Association
On February 25th, teachers will be donating $5.00 to dress down and wear RED. We would like to invite our students to participate in this challenge with us. On February 25th, students are invited to wear RED and donate $1.00 and support The American Heart Association.
SPS Counseling
Join us for a virtual screening of The Upstanders, a documentary about resilience and the power of connection to end bullying. It will be screened February 2, 2021 at 7:00 PM. There will be a post-film panel and discussion following the film. Come join us and RSVP here: http://bit.ly/3seOJ0Z
Valentine's Day Friendship Parties
Classroom Valentine's Day Friendship Parties will be held on Friday, February 12th. All SPS elementary sites are following these same practices:
- All candy or other edible treats must be purchased at a store and must be sealed up upon delivery to the school - parents may drop off in office on the day of the parties;
- Students may bring Valentine's Day cards to distribute to classmates;
- Unfortunately, due to SPS visitors guidelines, no outside guests will be allowed at the Valentine's Day classroom parties (thank you for understanding!);
- Students will *not* open Valentine's Day cards at school on the day of the party - they will go home with the students on Friday, Feb. 12 & parents will decide when to open them at home (you may wish to choose a 3-5 day quarantine time period before opening).
Doors Open at 8:30 am
School doors open each morning for students at 8:30 am. If you are in the car line, please wait until you hear the 8:30 am bell to let your child out of the car. We do not have teacher supervision here before 8:30 am, therefore we are unable to allow students into the building until the bell rings.
Parents in the car line might see others entering the building prior to 8:30 am - regular staff and substitute educators do use the front doors in the mornings, so you will frequently see individuals coming and going through those doors before school. However, please do not let your child enter until the 8:30 am bell dings - that's when our teachers are in their rooms, ready to greet students for the day. Thank you!
Red Tickets and PRIDE Focus Word
P.R.I.D.E. is our positive behavior support system here at Mann. P.R.I.D.E. at Mann stands for Positive*Respectful*Integrity*Dependable*Effort. During the month of February, we will be focusing on the word Effort. Teachers talk about these words often with their students. This month they will be focused on the word Effort and looking for students who exhibit this character trait to award Red Tickets to.
