January 27-31, 2020

The California State Department of Education and Monterey County Office of Education, are encouraging all teachers, staff, and students to participate in the Great Kindness Challenge the week of January 27–31. The initiative, presented by Kids for Peace, is a global campaign that promotes kindness in schools. It’s a proactive anti-bullying campaign that educators and students can use to create a culture of kindness. Read more and find resources by clicking the link below.

If you plan to participate, please share details with my office either prior to and/or after your planned events. Pictures are welcomed as well! The Monterey County Office of Education will be sharing out our events, along with our districts' events, throughout the week on our social media accounts.

Pinnacles Parkway Project

The city of Soledad is hosting an open house for the community to discuss the Pinnacles Parkway Project.

The project is for a proposed new roadway in the south end of town. The City of Soledad hopes that this project helps with circulation conditions and improves traffic, especially around parks and schools on Metz Road. The road would extend from the end of Los Coches Drive to Metz Road.

The roadway project has been discussed for several years; but now funding for planning and construction, has become available.

The purpose for the open house is to give community members more information and to answer questions. This is an opportunity for citizens to share their ideas, opinions, discuss alignment alternatives, and bring up any other issues of interest.

The meeting will be held Thursday, January 30, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. at San Vicente School. For more information, contact the Community and Economic Development Director, Brent Slama, at 831-223-5043.

Greenfield Community Science Workshop

A Mobile Van stops at San Vicente every Tuesday from 3:45 p.m. for anyone in the community who wants to learn more about Science. Please stop the San Vicente Multi-Purpose Room to learn more about science. Please check out their website to learn more about their services.
