Delay in Return to In-Person Instruction for K-2

Greetings Eagle Academy,

Eagle Academy was notified yesterday, Nov. 5, that several staff members were deemed to be close contacts of someone who tested positive for COVID 19. In accordance with State, Municipal, and District safety procedures, those staff members will be required to quarantine for 14 days.

As a result, I am sad to announce that we will be delaying the start of in-person instruction for our K-2 students until the tentative date of Monday, Nov. 30. More information related to our return to in-person instruction will be forthcoming. In the meantime, Eagle Academy will continue to provide virtual instruction in the current format.

As always, the health and safety of our students and staff are of the utmost importance. We want to make sure that our staff come through their quarantine, healthy and ready to welcome back students, and that we are taking all the necessarily precautions to prevent exposure to our students.

I appreciate your patience and understanding as we work though these challenging times.

Principal Carroll

Announcements Forthcoming

Please look for announcements from your classroom teachers (either via email or through Canvas). They are working on a revised process for getting materials prepped and ready to be distributed.

You are welcome to drop off any completed homework that you want to turn in to the Homework Bins outside of the school at your convenience. We will have a staff member check for packets daily.

Student Safety & New Protocols for Morning Drop-Off & Afternoon Pick-Up

Please view the attached Drop-Off & Pick-Up Letter. It contains specifics about school wide procedures for dropping students off in the morning and picking them up in the afternoon.

In order to expedite drop-off and pick-up we will be sending home placards with your student(s)' names and grade levels in the next two weeks homework packets. We ask that you place the placards on the dash or tape it to your passenger window. This will help the staff know who you are picking up and can radio in to the building for teachers to release your student(s).

If you are part of a carpool, or will have friends or other family members pick up your student(s) please contact the front office (742-3025) so that we can make a placard with names of all students you or your carpool partners will be picking up.

We Need Your Help

Our teachers and staff have been working hard to provide first rate instruction and support during the COVID closure and so have you. As we get ready to welcome your little ones back into the building we need your support. We need our school community to pull together to keep COVID out of our building so that we can remain open for in person instruction.

Please find the attached Daily Home Screening Checklist below. We are encouraging all families to review these daily before leaving for school. If your student(s) show symptoms, please do not send them to school. If you have any questions, contact the school (742-3025) and ask to speak to Nurse Jan.

On Friday, November 13th between 9-3pm we would like K-2 students to drop off their school supplies so we are ready to go on the first day of school. Everything needs to be labeled with the student’s name and should all be in a labeled bag with name and grade level.

Face Mask Guidance

Eagle Academy will be following ASD safety protocols. Face masks will be worn at all times. The only exceptions are while eating and drinking. The APB views the mask mandate as an extension of our school uniform policy.

Face masks should be solid (no prints or patterns) and match the approved uniform colors (Navy Blue, Light Blue, White, and Red). Additionally the APB has approved the following colors:

  • Black
  • Grey
  • Brown

EACS will provide all students three reusable cloth face masks and a lanyard to secure the masks to their person when we resume in-person instruction. As with all articles of uniform, we request that you print your student's name with a permanent marker on the mask in case it is accidentally left behind. We also have a small quantity of single use disposable pediatric masks on hand for emergencies.

We encourage students to pack one or two extra face masks in their backpack. Face masks tend to get wet/damp during recess and will likely need to be changed out with a dry one.

Click here for additional considerations for wearing masks by the CDC.

In the event that you are unable to source face masks for your student(s), please contact Principal Carroll.
