Forward Focus- Every Student, Every Day: The Woodstock Way
As always, your dedication and love for your students is evident as we start our Kindness Countdown- The 12 Days to Winter Break! Continue to keep a focus on student engagement as you work together to intentionally plan purposeful instruction (whole and small group) that is aligned with the VBCPS curriculum. As our Woodchucks get anxious about the holidays, it is important that you fill their school day with learning experiences that are authentic, rigorous, and meaningful. Using the data from the recent benchmark tests, we certainly have some areas of growth ahead of us that we ALL must commit to doing within our PLCs and within our classrooms. Our non-negotiables remain: alignment and fidelity to the VBCPS curriculum & Teaching and Learning Framework, small group instruction in math and language arts, weekly collaboration meetings with grade level and specialists, learning plans and learning targets that demonstrate learning intentions, and creating a learning environment built on respectful and positive relationships.
Thank you for all you do!!
Amy & Brandon
Consider these questions as you plan out and visualize each segment of the learning day in your classroom:
What will the instruction consist of? What will instruction look like/ sound like?
What resources will be used to prepare for instruction? How will I know when students have achieved mastery? How will I address learning gaps? What will I do to challenge students and encourage critical thinking? What specific questions do I need to ask? What do I need in the realm of professional development to support instruction?
HOLIDAY CHEER!!
Progress Reports-- December 15th
The DOT timeline for progress reports is as follows:
Thursday, December 10th: Art/ Music/ PE grades/ comments finalized by 5:00 p.m.
Friday, December 11th: Homeroom teachers finalize grades/ comments by 5:00 p.m.
Monday, December 14th: Darlene verifies and certifies that all grades/ comments have been finalized and entered by 1:00p.m.
Tuesday, December 15th: Issue progress reports for students struggling or not meeting grade level expectations. You do not have to send a progress report to all students, unless it is your preference to send a report home to every student.
Take time to also make phone calls or have face to face conferences with parents to discuss interventions at home and at school. Also, consider if the student needs to be referred to Student Response Team. If that is the case, email Mr. Lugo and Ms. Pulley to schedule a meeting.

Woodstock Shout Outs
Thank you Heath for helping me help someone! You are amazing! Jeannie
Daryl you are always there to save the day! So excited that with your help my hurt leg did not hold me back from leaving a smile for my kids while I am in training. Jeannie
I just wanted to thank everyone at Woodstock for welcoming me to your fabulous school and family. Everyone has been so helpful and patient as I learn the many routines of each grade level. I can’t even begin to thank RosaLee and Linda for all their support….you have made the transition into your school a pure joy for me. I already feel at home…like I was meant to be a Woodchuck. Thank you all sooo much. Angie
Rosalee, thank you for being a reliable go to Woodchuck when needed for supplies, copies and cutting of lamination. I appreciate all that you do, you Rock! Vernecia S.
Carolyn Davis- You Make a Difference!!
Sometimes your profession goes unnoticed
It seems like your unseen
But what I have observed
You are a working machine
You truly love the children
You help them reach their dream
I really love you dearly
Your laughter is a scream
I have been eternally blessed
To have you on my team.
Carolyn Davis, you make a difference to me, the staff, and the students at Woodstock Elementary.
Helping Hands wishes to express sincere appreciation for the Texas Roadhouse roll orders. Even though it was short notice, this fundraiser was successful! Thanks for everyone’s orders. We will do it again for Winter Break.
Also, we were very humbled and warmed by the expressions of love bestowed upon Pam Livingston. Pam was overwhelmed as well. It’s so encouraging to know that our WES family ”goes beyond” when needed the most! Helping Hands ♥ you!
Lenore Studebaker deserves a big HIGH FIVE for managing all the injuries, illnesses, and “frequent flyers” in our clinic. It’s a very busy place and she does it with grace and calm! --Maples
I can’t say enough about the amazing gals I work with in Rm.#23, Amy and Barb. They are READING ROCK STARS! ---Maples
