Staff Newsletter October 2015

SC DISCUS is South Carolina's Virtual Online Library. No login is required at school, but for students to use at home, they will need the following info:

**Username: discus2016 **Password: success...this can be included in your newsletters.

From DISCUS (www.sdiscus.org), go to DISCUS Kids and you can access BrainPop, Jr., Britannica, and a variety of other sites for researching.

Arbordale eBooks

Don't forget we have a subscription to Arbordale ebooks (formerly Sylvan-Dell). These great books come w/ lesson plans, activities, and much more. To access at school, just click the link which should be on your desktop. Information for accessing at home was sent in the WAG. This cannot be posted on a public website. You can send the info to parents via email. Encourage them to use the books, too!

Media Matters

Read for the Record will be on October 22nd. The book this year is Not Norman. The whole school is asked to tune in and listen to the book as it is read aloud on the Morning Show. We are trying to break the world record for the most people reading a book on the same day. We will need to know the number of students who participated in each class. More info to follow!
