Respect Character Trait

Respect is our PAWS-itive character trait for the month of November! Monthly Character traits are defined and students displaying traits are presented with a PAW. Assigned students will collect them from classrooms each morning. PAWS will be announced during lunches on Wednesday. During lunch on Wednesday, students will have an opportunity to display their PAW on the Principal’s 100 Board. When there are 10 in a row on the board, those 10 students spin the prize wheel for individual incentives. Those individual incentives include VIP lunch with 2 friends, Cafeteria Snack Coupon, Pick a Prize Coupon, Gaming Room with 2 friends. At the end of each month, students will also receive the designated Character bead to acknowledge their PAWS-itive Traits.

What is our PBiS Goal This Year?

Our overall goal during the 2018-2019 school year is to have 80% or more of our kids receive one or fewer minor/major behavior referrals this school year. As of October 31, 2018, 459 out of our 489 students have received one or fewer behavior referrals for discipline. That means that 94% of our students at Maplewood Elementary are consistently doing the right thing! Out of the 30 students that have received more than one referral, only 17 have more than two. Our students are making great choices and learning quickly to avoid repeating bad ones.

Who is Involved in PBiS?

Everyone… faculty and staff. We encourage everyone to recognize positive and appropriate behaviors. We encourage everyone to recognize the students in your classroom, hallways, restroom, cafeteria, playground and during arrival/dismissal. This is your opportunity to catch students doing something right!

Faculty and staff will recognize students for displaying appropriate behavior before, during and after school. Faculty and staff are looking for students who are respectful, own their actions, have positive attitudes and take responsibility.
