Week 22 - February 4

News to Know

Student Devices

All learners should bring their charged devices to school each day, but occasionally, students may forget their devices at home. Please avoid delivering the device to campus. Our teachers are prepared to offer an alternative assignment, if needed, for the day the device is forgotten at home.

Our tardies were drastically reduced because of you last week! Thank you for helping your child(ren) get to school on time! Remember, learners are expected to be in their classrooms by the time the tardy bell rings at 7:45.

Alan November - Parent U - THIS THURSDAY!

Alan November, a leading national expert on learning and parenting in a digital world is coming to Midlothian ISD. There are two opportunities on February 8 to hear him present. The first opportunity is from 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the MISD Administration Building and the second opportunity is from 6-8 p.m. at Heritage High School in the Cafeteria. At either session, please feel free to brown bag your lunch or dinner and bring a friend. For more details, please visit our district’s website at I look forward to seeing you there!

Genius Hour

We are excited about welcoming our Kindergarten Learners and DI Team Members into our Genius Hour rotation on Friday!

112 learners expressed interest in our "Freestyle" club! We will talk to these learners tomorrow, determine what their "freestyle" project will be, and send home a permission slip to be signed because most likely, these learners will need to bring something from home that pertains to their project. Your child will know if he/she has been selected for the "Freestyle" club tomorrow afternoon. Any learner who does not return his/her permission slip by Wednesday will be assigned a different club.

Anyone interested in making slime? How about wood working? We would supply the materials, but we need brave souls to help us facilitate these clubs for our NEXT round of Genius Hour starting in March. Let me know -!

Additional Information

Each Monday and Friday, we have had Pops on Patrol in the back carline. We would love to expand this volunteer opportunity to Wednesdays as well! If you are a dad, grandpa, uncle, or big brother and would like to volunteer to greet our learners, please contact Megan Fulbright at, and she will get you all set up! The commitment is small, but the impact is big! Thanks for volunteering!
