VIEW HAUNTED MASTERPIECES WITH AUGMENTED REALITY
The Starry Night, The Mona Lisa, and The Scream
I packaged up for you the K-5 Halloween ARt Activity that delighted my students!
Quick overview:
- I printed out a class set of activity sheets.
- Passed out iPads with Eyejack App
- Students scanned the QR code on the sheet
- Then scanned the printed image of the art
- The masterpieces came to life with my spooky animations
- Bonus Activity (see below)
HAUNTED ARt HALLOWEEN ACTIVITY
Books, Posters, Postcards and off the Screen!
Once the QR code was scanned in Eyejack app students were invited to explore the art posters, books, or even web images projected on the screen of The Mona Lisa, The Starry Night, and The Scream that I scattered around the room. They also became haunted with Augmented Reality. We were able to get it to work from a faded old poster, a t-shirt, and a black and white printed image.
Each Animation Teaches Art Concepts
The activity includes question prompts for students as they view the spooky animations to help identify the art concepts demonstrated.
Example:
Q: Why does the screamer change sizes?
A: Objects appear smaller closer to the vanishing point and larger in the foreground
BONUS ACTIVITY!
The packet you'll receive also includes a fourth activity sheet. I animated the cover of the book, I'M NOT AFRAID OF THIS HAUNTED HOUSE. If you own the book, the cover can come to life for you and your students. You can also view it from the sheet or computer screen. I wrapped up this activity with this slightly spooky story in all my K-5 classes. They all enjoyed hearing about Simon Lester Henry Strauss and what he wasn't afraid of in a haunted house.
