Message from the Principal

Harris Families:

I sincerely hope that this communication finds everyone happy, healthy, and safe. I know that all of the Harris Staff misses your children immensely and we look forward to when we can move on normally once again. The end of the year is almost here and I wanted to reach out and update everyone with what I know as being the latest information regarding the close of the school year.

Student Items left in their desks prior to Spring Break:

-Pick up begins Monday, May 18 and will go through Wednesday, May 20

-All student items are bagged and labeled with their names on it

-School Spring Pictures, if ordered, will also be with those items

-Pick up is in the cafeteria, park and then walk to those doors for entrance

-ONLY 10 people at a time will be admitted to pick up items

-Please practice social distancing guidelines

-Pick up starts at 9am and will end at 1pm DAILY (18th-20th)

-Student items not picked up will be placed in their next year’s classroom (P/S-5)

-Materials for students in the 6th grade not picked up will be stored at Harris until arrangements can be made at a later date

Title I Summer School:

-ALL Harris students are eligible, I HIGHLY encourage you to sign up for your child to attend

-Summer School is online, JUNE 1-26

-If you already have a Chromebook you can keep it for Summer School

-Go to the following links for more information:

-Sign up by May 15!

Chromebook Return:

-Return Chromebooks if you will not be participating in summer school

-Return Dates May 21-22 from 8am-12pm (FRONT OF SCHOOL)

-Chromebooks already checked out can be used for Summer School. DO NOT RETURN (more information as to when will come at a later date)

-Students needing a Chromebook for Summer School, communicate with your child’s teacher and we will make arrangements to get them one

School Instrument Drop-off Reminder!

5th & 6th grade band and strings' students,

Since we are nearing the end of this school year, we will be collecting school instruments. On Monday, May 11th from 8:00 am-11:00 am and Tuesday, May 12th, also from 8:00 am-11:00 am.

Please drive in the main parking lot near the front office. The teachers will come outside to your vehicle to pick up the instrument. This is just for school instruments only.

Are You Moving?

We are in the process of planning for the 2020 – 2021 school year. Our office needs to know if your child will NOT be attending Harris Elementary next year. This information will help us project our staffing needs and prepare our records for a smooth transition for you and your child.

It's time to elect the board members for the Parent Teacher Student Organization for the 2020-2021 school year! Any parent, grandparent, or caregiver with a child attending Harris Elementary in 2020-2021 is eligible to run for a board position. Board members plan and execute school events and fundraisers, support teachers and staff, volunteer, and have a lot of fun!

Here at Harris Elementary, we are proud to offer FREE breakfast and lunch to all children effected by the school closures.

**Drive thru ONCE per day to receive a breakfast & lunch between 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM

Parents may call the Helpdesk @ (480) 497-3417 from 6 am - 6 pm if their student has a technical issue with district-issued Chromebook. After hours, parents may leave a message.
