Come Fly with Me for the Summer

We had a wonderful start to summer camp this week. As I walked around the school, I was excited to see the children enjoying their new classrooms. They were enthusiastic as they explored with their new friends and teachers. Of course there were still some tears during the morning drop off, but they quickly gave way to merriment as the children investigated the world of bugs and all of the incredible things you can learn about these small creatures that are so often ignored. You can check out all of the cool things the campers did below... I don't know about you, but I simply can't wait to see what the rest of the summer has in store.

Monday, June 8th, 9am to Friday, June 12th, 11am

1120 Park Avenue

Baltimore, MD

Originally, Swim Lessons were supposed to start on Monday, June 8th. However, rather than jumping right in (literally), Ms. Christy is going to take the time on Monday, June 8th and Friday, June 12th to assess the individual children's needs. On Monday, both Butterfly groups, the Fireflies and the Lightning Bugs will work with Ms. Christy at the pool. The three Dragonfly groups and the Katydids will have water play. On Friday, the opposite will be true- the three Dragonfly groups and the Katydids will work with Ms. Christy at the pool while the Butterfly groups, the Fireflies and the Lightning bugs have water play. (Don't worry if you're child isn't here on their groups day. We'll work something out.)

Important Information

Drop off in the morning

All campers should be dropped of no later than 9am (8:45am for Butterflies and Katydids on Mondays and Fridays). The children often go down to the Big Playground first thing in the morning. If your child is not there when their group leaves school, you will not be able to drop them off at the Bolton Swim and Tennis and they cannot join another group. You will have to take them with you and they will not be able to rejoin their group until 12pm.

Please be sure to apply sunscreen to your child before sending them to camp each day. The teachers do not apply sunscreen before going out in the morning. The teachers will reapply sunscreen in the afternoon if you have provided it.

Swim Lessons and Water Play

No mater what group your child is in, they will have water play or swim lessons on Mondays and Fridays. It is important to send your child to camp prepared for these activities. They should have their swim suits on as well as having a towel and water shoes. (Water shoes are very important if the children participate in water play because we don't want them wearing wet sneaker all day.) If your child is still in diapers, you may send them in a regular diaper under their swim clothes and the teachers will change them into their swim diapers and rubber pants before play/swim begins. (All children wearing swim diapers MUST have rubber pants.)
