Message from the Principal
October 29, 2021
It has been a busy week with our first week of after-school remediation, spell bowl, robotics, and ending the week with a dress-up day for Halloween! Even with all of the fun this week, there has been lots of hard work. Teachers continue to work to determine students in need of additional intervention, as well as look at the grade-level standards to monitor progress and provide additional instruction for challenging standards. If you have questions regarding ways you could help them at home, don't hesitate to reach out to their teacher. As always, reading at home with students is a great strategy to support students with their reading and give the time together that kids love and need! Have a safe and happy Halloween weekend!

Is your child watching Squid Game?
Squid Game has become a super popular series on Netflix. We are hearing from teachers and school staff that they are seeing students "playing" Squid Game at school. In the show, these games include various acts of violence. At school, we’re seeing things milder than the show's premise, but still unacceptable behavior for our students.
The Netflix maturity rating for Squid Game is TV-MA. According to Netflix, content with the TV-MA is intended "For Mature Audiences and nay not be suitable for ages 17 and under."
The SmartSocial "Netflix App: Safety Guide for Parents" walks parents through ways to talk to their students about what types of media content are appropriate for them to watch and how to set Parental Controls on their Netflix accounts.
