Panthers Capture 2nd Place

The Panthers played Columbia Rockbridge in the Championship game of the North Kansas City Tournament. While the Panthers struggled to score in the first half, their defense kept them in the basketball game by holding a very high scoring Rockbridge team to just 23 first half points. In the second half, the Panthers found themselves down by more than 20 points. And, that's when the Players showed their character. The Panthers did not quit. They continued to work hard and their shots started falling. The comeback was on! Storming back, the Panthers found themselves within 5 points with just over a minute to play. Unfortunately, Rockbridge made their free throws in the last minute and the Panthers lost 54-47. It was a marvelously performance that came up just short.

What a Shot!

The Freshmen boys basketball team played Lee's Summit North last Friday. Even though underclassmen, players still love to compete with teams from their conference. The game was exciting from start to finish. With about 10 seconds to play and the Panthers trailing by 1 point, Coach Lybarger calls a timeout. Designing a play to come up with the needed basket, the players listened intently. Out of the timeout, the Panthers made a pass from Jones, to Williams to Beachamp for the 2 pointer at the buzzer. Panthers win! What a finish to an intense game.
