What's going on at Cumming Elementary? December 4, 2015

Dear CES Family,

It is hard to believe that the semester is coming to a close and the holidays are fast upon us. We want to thank each of you for your support of our school this year. This has been a very productive year and we have many exciting things on the horizon here at CES. Please continue to support our teachers as they work to provide the very best educational experiences for our students. We certainly can’t do this without YOU!

If you have an opportunity to visit our school, please check out our on-going renovations in the Media Center. The latest addition to this project is our new flat screen computer monitors provided by our fabulous PTO. Additionally, we were very thankful to receive a generous monetary gift from Browns Bridge Church to further the renovations in the Media Center. Stay tuned for more news about the CES Advanced Studies Lab coming in 2016!

We sincerely wish everyone a safe a joyous holiday season.

All the very best,

Pam Pajerski

Georgia has released the 2015 Georgia Milestones scores. Every 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade student takes the test in May. The scale scores have been posted in Parent Portal, and student score results should have been sent home this week. The student score report will have more detailed information than can be posted in Parent Portal.

If you have questions about your student's Georgia Milestones score report, please contact Mrs. Bailey or plan to attend one of the three parent sessions that will be held across the county in January:

  • January 7 at Otwell Middle School, 6:30 PM
  • January 12 at Piney Grove Middle School, 6:30 PM
  • January 19 at North Forsyth Middle School, 6:30 PM

Mr. Campbell and the Cumming Cougar Chorus have been working hard for the past few months to bring you "Forever Christmas"!! Students will enjoy the performance on Wednesday or Thursday morning. The whole family can come out and enjoy the festivity on Thursday, December 10 from 6:30-7:30 PM! This is sure to be a great way to celebrate the season and enjoy the sounds of our talented 4th and 5th grade students. Hope to see you next Thursday evening in the CES Cafeteria!

As you know, Forsyth County has opted to create online learning days during inclement weather situations. Using feedback from last winter's itslearning assignments, the county has redesigned the expectations of students and teachers. The video below will outline these new guidelines.
Online Learning Days 2015-16

Whimsy Daisy Holiday Shop

For the third year in a row, Whimsy Daisy will be set up for students to make their holiday purchases all next week. Each class has a designated time to browse or shop for their family, friends, or neighbors. Prices range from 25 cents to $20. Help your children remember to bring in their money to shop! This not only lets them buy gifts, it also promotes budgeting and money awareness. A percentage of the money raised will go to PTO.

Would you like to help out? Click this link to sign up to help the kids shop! The slots are in 2 hour increments and we have day or evening options.
