Mondays From The Mesa # 7
Alta Mesa Parent Newsletter (5/4/2020)
May The 4th BE WITH YOU!
Alta Mesa Families,
Welcome to the final full month of school! Hard to imagine that we are almost through with what has become a year we won't forget. This is usually a month when we are finalizing our end of the year assessments, getting ready for Open House, and planning Field Day. I know these are events that we all will miss, but I am continually reminded that with these losses come so many unexpected precious moments. Personally, I have been able to spend time with our newborn (Eden) and I am very thankful for that. I encourage you to take a moment to count the things you are thankful for that have come unexpectedly out of this time.
Our Assistant Superintendent Heather Armelino sent out a message on Sunday (video found in this newsletter) in which she spoke about the unlikely probability of returning to school this year. While I know this probably does not come as a shock to you as this has been anticipated for some time, it is still sad that we won't be able to finish out the year together. We will still look to provide you with an end of the year report card. This report card will be much different than our normal report card as we don't have the same data we would have during a typical year. It will likely include students' participation level in distance learning (or if they opted out) and assessment data that will be pushed out in the coming weeks. This assessment data will not be a judgment on anything other than how students responded to distance learning. This is NOT meant to cause stress for you as a parent. We simply need to see how distance learning has impacted our students. Please be on the lookout next week for information on assessments coming from your child's teacher.
It's very appropriate that this month's character trait for Alta Mesa is "perseverance." I think for all of us it's going to take perseverance to finish this unique school year strong. I continue to return to the fact that we are all in this together. We are all learning and growing in new ways during this time. Last week's quote was "We rise when we lift others up". Let's continue to focus on the positive and lift each other up! If there is anything you need, please contact our office so that we can support you!

Intent to Return
In order to plan for the next school year, we need to gauge the number of students we will have at Alta Mesa. Please fill out this form for each of the students that you currently have attending our school. If you are planning on registering a new kindergarten student please don't fill this out for them. That would be a new enrollment/registration. This is only for students that attended Alta Mesa Kinder-5th this year. For form click HERE
Online Enrollment Is Open
I am excited to announce that we are now accepting online registration for students for the next school year. The 20-21 school year is just around the corner and it's never too early to enroll. This is for new registration only. If you have a child that needs to register in Kindergarten for next year, or any other grade level click HERE
