Winter Break Celebrations and Early Release

There are exciting schoolwide activities planned for the final days before winter break. Please take a moment to review -

Thursday, December 16th is Pajama Day

Friday, December 17th is Ugly Sweater/Festive Hat Day (sponsored by student council)

Friday, December 17th is Bone Store

On Friday, December 17th we will also have winter break celebrations. Thank you again to our wonderful PTA volunteers that will be helping us with these activities. Celebrations will be from 12-1pm and will not include any food. We will have an early release on this day and our dismissal time is 2:00pm.

Churchill Clubs

Clubs are a great way to enrich a student's experience at Churchill. They get to connect with others and explore their personal interests outside of the regular school day. We had a blast during Session 1 and we will resume Session 2 of clubs the week of January 11th. An email will be sent to all families with a Sign-Up Genius link on January 3rd and will be open until January 6th at 12:00pm. Students can sign-up for one club per session. In order to accommodate all students, we ask that students only sign-up for two clubs a year. Below is the club brochure. If you have any questions regarding club sign-up, please contact the main office.

E-Learning Day Plans

In the event we have inclement weather or for some other reason we are unable to access the building, the district may call for an e-learning day. On this day, students would not be in attendance and expected to participate in prepared learning activities at home. The plan below is considerate of the following requirements:

  • Ensure at least 5 clock hours of instruction and/or school work.
  • Ensure access to information/directions, assignments, and support when needed.
  • Provide accommodations and/or modifications for students as required/needed.
  • Verify student participation.
  • Provide flexibility in completion of work/turning in assignments.

Here are some important details to know about an e-learning day at Churchill:

  • A packet of work will be prepared and sent home in advance. Place this packet it a safe place to only be worked on during an e-learning day.
  • Students must complete and turn in the assigned work the next school day in order to be counted present.
  • Once the district has determined an e-learning day, staff will communicate with their families from 8:30-9:00am the schedule of the day and how to contact them for assistance with completing work. They will also attach to the communication an electronic copy of the packet.
  • Students are scheduled to be working on their assignments from 9:00-11:30am and from 12:15-3:15pm. Teachers are available by email to provide assistance from 9:00-11:30am and 12:15-2:15pm.
  • Families may also contact the main office if they have questions or assistance is needed.

An Invitation: Principal's Advisory Committee

We are looking for interested Churchill caregivers to submit their interest to be a part of the Principal's Advisory Committee. The committee will tentatively meet three times a school year (once per Trimester) to learn about and discuss school improvement efforts as well as co-construct with the principal special projects. Please complete the form if you are interested and Principal Schnoor will reach out with further details regarding its first meeting.

We would like to invite all interested families/caregivers to participate in an upcoming learning workshop opportunity. Our topic for this workshop will be assessment and grading. Want to know more about equitable grading practices at Churchill? Have questions about the assessment of essential standards using the 4 point scale and what grades are communicating about your child's performance? Join us! We will have a daytime and evening session, both of which will be recorded and posted.
