Egg Harbor Township High School
Week of March 20, 2022
A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
Greetings!
March Madness is in full swing not only NCAA basketball but the spring scrimmages for our athletic teams are underway. as spring sports gear up for opening days on March 30 and April 1. Check the athletic calendar (below) to come watch some of your favorite sports.
On March 23, in honor of Women’s History Month, Atlantic County Women’s Hall of Fame inductees were present in EHTHS to present their stories in the hope of inspiring young women! Their hope is that young women consider serving the country in a variety of capacities. The women echoed a common theme of being anything you want and following your dreams. It’s never too late!
Our Communications Academy gave presentations to our middle schools about the opportunity that our High School has to offer. Seniors in the academy went to Alder and Fernwood on March 23 and 24. They highlighted their academy and answered questions.
Also, on March 23, our Renaissance team invited almost 200 students to report to the auditorium for a movie day! Students were recognized for just doing the right thing! They had a great time and loved the movie! It’s just nice to be recognized and it doesn’t have to do with their grades!
The Access test was administered to our ELL (English Language Learners) students this week and will continue into next week. This test determines the growth of our students and ability to understand English and be able to test out of ELL services.
On Thursday, March 24, the Tri M Music Honor Society held inductions for approximately 16 students. These students have been selected by their directors and applied for the prestigious society. These students have achieved excellence in the areas of music performance, scholarship, leadership, service and character. They have met the scholarship criteria by earning a B average or above and participated in at least 2 semesters of a music course with an A average in their music courses. Congratulations to all!
Some upcoming dates to know:
March 26 girls crew at Lake Lenape 10:00
March 26 softball scrimmage: home at 10:00
April 1, next Friday, is a half day for students.
Until next week, have a wonderful weekend! Stay safe, be well, continue to dream of the possibilities ahead of us, be happy and smile at someone!
Ms. Connor

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
Students of the Week
Nominee: Kailey Fatcher
Nominated by: Ryan Menz
Kailey is a different student than the one I "knew" last year. I never actually met her last year, as she was all virtual; last year was a difficult one for some students, and I think Kailey was one of them. Since having her in person this year, she is so much more dedicated to her work! She asks questions, always does her homework, cares about her understanding and tries her best. It's hard to care so much in your senior year, especially now that it's SPRING, but Kailey is here putting in the work every day! Her positive attitude and perseverance is a welcome addition to my classroom!
Nominee: Max Dallman
Nominated by: Jen Hauta
Max is very shy and high school has brought many challenges for him to face. He has faced his fears and accomplished things he didn’t think he could. From complete uncertainty to a big smile of accomplishment. He will continue to surprise everyone including himself!

Communications Academy
Seniors in the Communications Academy conducted presentations to the 8th graders at Fernwood and Alder Avenue Middle Schools. Students visited Social Studies classes where they informed the 8th graders about the Communications Academy program, courses, equipment, filming and editing opportunities, and shared examples of their original work. After their presentation, they held a Q & A session with the middle school students. Adriana Morano Teles and Austin Rippy also had the chance to lead a lesson in the media classes.

The High School has adopted a new bullying-prevention program for this school year!
#DAY1--a staff and student-led philosophy that will serve to foster a building-wide atmosphere of kindness and inclusion.
This program was started a few years ago in Bergen County by the Tyler Clementi Foundation and has gained momentum throughout the state and country for use in schools, community groups, workplaces, and sports teams. We even have 3 of our own students who were selected by the foundation as leaders for this initiative!
The premise is simple: the adults in the building make a “declaration statement” about behavior that is expected, as well as behavior that is unacceptable, and we all pledge to conduct ourselves accordingly. This includes seeking help when we witness unacceptable behavior occurring.
This notion is called being an #Upstander.
Has your student taken their #Upstander Pledge yet?!?
Have them sign into their school account and click here! 😊
