Mission: To Prepare Each Student for a Successful Future
Strong Character & Strong Academics
At NRWHS, our focus on academics extends from our commitment to our district mission – to prepare each student for a successful future. We know that students who leave us with strong academic records will have more opportunities for personal and professional success once they graduate. We also believe in the importance of character education which is why we consistently teach and promote our school values – Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be a Learner.
In his best seller titled The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, author Sean Covey details 7 habits that are tied to both strong character and academic success. The habits are detailed below:
"Habit 1: Be proactive
Take responsibility for your life.
Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind
Define your mission and goals in life.
Habit 3: Put First Things First
Prioritize and do most important things first.
Habit 4: Think Win-Win
Have an everyone-can-win attitude.
Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood
Listen to people sincerely.
Habit 6: Synergize
Work together to achieve more.
Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw
Renew yourself regularly."
We promote these habits in various contexts (example: Habit 2 relates to our focus on each student having a future story), and we encourage you to promote them with your son or daughter as well. We appreciate your support as we work together to educate your child. As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to us with questions or concerns.

Open House is Coming!
We hope you can join us on Wednesday, October 10 at 6 pm for our annual Open House. This year's event will be a grade 7-12 event at the high school. Teachers from grades 9-12 will be available during the first hour of the event in the gymnasium. The teachers will be grouped by their content areas (math, English, etc.), and the purpose of this portion of the event will be for parents and community members to learn some general information about our course offerings. Refreshments will be served. We will also be sharing information about some of our extracurricular activities, including those offered through the LIFT program.
During this first hour, parents will have the opportunity to sign up for brief (10-minute) one-on-one meetings with teachers which will occur during the second hour of the event. We utilized this format last year, and we received a great deal of positive feedback on it. This portion of the event will be timely as 5-week grade reports will be just coming out.
We hope to see you on October 10th at 6 pm for Open House!
