Action Items: Week full of instruction
Plan great lessons and over plan academically for the week before spring break. The students are active and ready for spring break and so are we. But, we have a week full of instruction that we need to do. Please maintain your academic schedule and routines all week. Please use every moment you have for instruction. The students get to rest over spring break and we get to rest over spring break so in the meantime, please teach and work hard so that our kids get smarter because of what they do in school next week.
Upcoming Action Item
After spring break, we will continue with Operation Diet.
We also begin Operation Grapple: During Operation Grapple we will emphasize the use of Sample Word Problems that are in the Math Curriculum for each grade level--get a head start on it and have students grapple with them next week.
Here are some pics from planning. I was very impressed with all the planning I attended this week. It is very clear that our planning references the NNPS Curriculum in terms of pacing, lesson choices, resources---GREAT JOB--NNPS BOOK PUSHERS---SANFORD BOOK PUSHERS
Planning; Heather Olson leads 4th grade planning with reference to the curriculum and the plan on display on the smarboard for the team to see
Barbara Brinker assisting with third grade planning by sharing some books that the teachers will use
Plot map. Lots of plot maps in use instructionally throughout the building. Here, Stephanie Spiroff's planning included her plot map so that when students worked on theirs they could see this an an anchor.
Third grade ICARE project is spectacular. This is a great addition to our school. This is an amazing ICARE project. The students and teachers recycled bottle caps and made something beautiful. Thank you Third Grade---all of Sanford is so proud of you--amazing work!
Content
This week I captured some VA STUDIES Content lessons in fourth grade.
Content provides an opportunity for students to read, write, think, communicate, create, produce. During content, are your students content PRODUCERS--what is their work product--is it something they read, something they made, something they wrote. Content is is READING time and PRODUCING time
