5th Grade News
April 8, 2016 - 4th Quarter - We're in the home stretch!
Student Spotlight...Guess Who?
There are some great people and things happening in 5th grade... Guess who...
- This student has had an excellent week! He has been on task and working hard. He even used some of his "free" time to help some of his classmates understand an assignment. He always comes to school with a wonderful attitude. Great job, Myles C.!
- This 5th grader steers clear of "drama". She is as good to her special area teachers as she is to her homeroom teacher. Way to go Jazlyn L.!

Have FUN! We can't wait to see the awesome projects that you all come up with!
Math- Measurement Conversion
We just finished a short unit on reading and interpreting line plots. Next week, we will work on converting measurements within the same system. Practice those multiplication facts!
Please start/continue practicing multiplication facts at home. Fractions are the bulk of the 5th Grade Math EOG and knowing their multiplication facts makes this easier.
English Language Arts (Reading)
Book clubs will begin next week.
Please make sure your child is still reading a fiction book for enjoyment and jotting nightly. This book should come back and forth from school to home daily. Remind them to log their reading on Biblionasium daily.
Science- Body Systems
This week we began learning about how our circulatory and respiratory systems function and support one another. Next week, we will begin learning about the functions and parts of our skeletal, muscular, and digestive systems. We will conclude the week with our first vocabulary test on Friday, April 15th. A study guide is being sent home today.
The Body Systems Unit Vocabulary List can now be found on my Weebly. To practice vocabulary words, I would suggest creating vocabulary flash cards with the word on the front and the definition with examples on the back to promote further understanding.
