Milford High School
December 2019
Thankful in December
December is a good time for both reflection and anticipation; as the year is winding down, it is an excellent opportunity to look backward and forward.
During the two snow days that bridged the Thanksgiving holiday and the three quick weeks to winter break, I spent some time reflecting on Milford's wonderful school community and how quickly the first months have passed. The teachers and support staff have been helpful, patient, and supportive during my transition, and for that I am so grateful. I have started building relationships with the students, and they have been welcoming and kind.
As I look forward to the new year ahead, with all of its opportunities and possibilities, I think of the educators, administrators, and support staff of Milford High School. Working in an industry of hope, they embrace the future . By molding the hearts, minds, and hands of Milford and Mason’s young people, (by preparing lessons, by keeping the school clean, by shoveling snowy sidewalks, by preparing healthy, tasty lunches, by writing their dismissal notes and processing their transcripts) MHS employees are investing in our collective future. Education is the actionable belief that tomorrow can and will be better.
As you anticipate the year ahead, look to our young people. Their energy, curiosity, and optimism will carry us forward. You will find many examples of this in the articles and photos below. I hope you embrace the weeks ahead with joy and reflection, as well as positive anticipation of the opportunities a new year brings.
Best always,
Principal Chali Davis
Road Side Clean Up Club
A special shout-out to advisor Ashley DelGreco and founding members Valari Vander-Heyden and Lauren Auger for getting this important club off the ground (along with the trash!).
Spanish Club Food Drive
For the tenth consecutive year, The MHS- Spanish Club held a school wide food drive to support families in need in our community. A block classes competed against one another to see which could donate more items. This year the first place winner was Mr. Thibault's A- block class with 59 items donated! In return, they received a delicious box of doughnuts.
In total, MHS collected 460 food items and hygiene products combined, which were delivered to SHARE the Monday before Thanksgiving, just in time for the holidays.
I AM COLLEGE BOUND Event
Students who submitted applications to NH schools (public & private) were able to submit without paying application fees!
The event was a great success! Fifty-five seniors submitted 131 free applications for a savings of $4190. In addition, a lucky student will be awarded a $500 scholarship to be announced at our awards ceremony in June.

Granite State Challenge
The Game's Afoot
At Milford High School, the play production is truly a "all hands on" endeavor. Every theatre student worked on the set: painting, construction, putting up the dressing. A total of 61 students were involved, with 31 directly involved in the production.
In a month of many exciting events and accomplishments, the annual theater department's production was surely a highlight.
Congratulations, Mr. Gallant, on an incredibly successful director debut!
Cybersecurity Team
Special thanks to our computer science teacher, Tammy Andrew, for providing this wonderful opportunity to our students!
MHS Culinary Takes on the Chopped Challenge!
Three culinary students were paired with Mrs. Vaso Partinoudi, ATC director and a NH Army Naitonal Guardsman. Prior to the event, students were given 12 different MREs to practice with, but on the day of the competition, they were given just three to work with, plus one special ingredient. The team had 15 minutes to create a menu and one hour to make four different plates of food.
While Milford did not win the competition, it was a great experience for everyone!
